We currently have a fantastic opportunity for a site maintenance operative to join our team at Allied Bakeries in Stoke. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the site with all facilities and building requirements and will liaise with a number of stakeholders across the business.
Overview Of Role
- Location: Stoke, Newcastle-under-Lyme
- Hours: 42 per week, Monday-Friday 06:00-14:30 with occasional weekends.
- Salary: From £30,000 per year.
Key Accountabilities
- Safety always comes first; lead by example in ensuring Health and Safety is the top priority.
- Carry out general site repairs and maintenance, including doors, floors, walls, ceilings, and fixtures.
- Maintain site services such as lighting, plumbing, drainage, and utilities (excluding production machinery).
- Complete reactive repairs in response to reported issues across the site.
- Support planned maintenance tasks to prevent damage or deterioration of the building.
- Ensure work areas meet food safety, hygiene, and health & safety standards.
- Carry out basic external maintenance, including walkways and fencing.
- Log completed work and report any recurring or significant issues.
- Liaise with contractors and support visits when required.
The Right Person
- Suitably experienced with a good skill level in basic building and facilities maintenance, including painting & decorating, minor building & roofing repairs, joinery, plumbing, tiling, flooring, cladding, cosmetic plastering & brickwork repairs.
- Safety conscious; take care of own safety and that of others at all times and comply with all site Health & Safety rules and procedures.
- Able to work at height where required using the appropriate safety equipment.
- Good team worker; able to build and maintain good working relationships with people.
- Expect to communicate with people in a pleasant and courteous manner across all departments.
- Ability to travel to other local AB sites as and when required (Liverpool and Stoke).
- Willing to undertake necessary training courses where required (IPAF, Asbestos awareness, COSH).
- Able to work flexible hours to meet the demands of the business.
- Have high personal standards of work and aim to meet these standards at all times.
