Our Grocery Service Centre, based near Liverpool, provides shared services across multiple ABF companies in the ABF Grocery division, supporting brands such as Kingsmill, Pataks, Blue Dragon, Jordans, Ryvita and Silver Spoon. We deliver support across customer services, consumer care, finance, payroll, HR and IS. We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join the Accounting Services Team. This is an excellent entry‑level role into finance within ABF, focused primarily on supporting one of our UK businesses. You will gain hands‑on experience across core finance activities while working as part of a collaborative, high‑performing team that delivers accurate reporting, strong controls and outstanding service. You will also be encouraged to learn, grow and develop your finance skills from day one.

Key Accountabilities

  • Processing general ledger journals.
  • Preparing balance sheet reconciliations each period.
  • Completing bank and cash reconciliations.
  • Posting general ledger allocations to support weekly and period reporting.
  • Preparing and posting accruals and prepayments.
  • Completing VAT returns, Intrastat, EC sales submissions and national statistics.
  • Supporting the wider Accounting team across other ABF businesses.
  • Assisting with ad‑hoc tasks to ensure the Accounting Services team delivers a high‑quality service.

  • Part‑qualified accountant or recent graduate actively studying.
  • Strong spreadsheet and numerical skills.

  • Independent with the ability to manage large volumes of data accurately.
