About The Role
Are you a skilled Heavy Goods Vehicle Mechanic who takes pride in keeping vehicles safe, compliant, and performing at their best? We’re looking for a dedicated and proactive VMU Technician to join our high-performing Vehicle Maintenance Unit (VMU) on a permanent night shift basis. You’ll play a crucial role behind the scenes—ensuring our fleet is fully operational and ready to keep our logistics network moving.
What You'll Be Doing
- Carry out inspection, servicing, and repairs on LGVs, trailers, and ancillary equipment
- Ensure all work meets or exceeds VOSA standards and compliance requirements
- Work closely with VMU Shift Leaders and logistics teams to maximise vehicle availability
- Deliver high-quality work efficiently to achieve shift KPIs
- Follow strict health, safety, and environmental procedures
- Diagnose faults and carry out repairs using appropriate tools and resources
- Support the use of subcontractors to ensure timely and cost-effective maintenance
- Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence
- Provide flexible support across VMU duties when required
Essential
- City & Guilds in LGV Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent)
- LGV Licence Category C+E
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A proactive, customer-focused approach
- Commitment to safety, compliance, and quality workmanship
