About the Role

We're looking for an experienced Packaging Technologist to join our Quality and Technical team in a fast-paced blended powder manufacturing environment. This is a hands-on, technically focused role where you'll lead the development of innovative, sustainable packaging solutions while also improving and optimising our existing formats. You'll play a key role in ensuring packaging is fit for purpose, compliant, cost-effective, and operationally efficient, supporting both new product launches and day-to-day production.

Responsibilities

  • Packaging Development & Innovation
  • Develop and trial new packaging formats for NPD projects
  • Ensure packaging is compatible with powder products (e.g. moisture control, sealing, shelf-life)
  • Work cross-functionally with NPD, Technical, Production, and suppliers
  • Continuous Improvement
    • Optimise existing packaging to improve performance, reduce cost, and minimise waste
    • Troubleshoot packaging issues on production lines
    • Support factory teams with technical expertise and process improvements
  • Sustainability
    • Drive initiatives to improve recyclability and reduce material usage
    • Support transition to more sustainable packaging solutions
    • Contribute to environmental targets and compliance requirements
  • Compliance & Quality
    • Ensure packaging meets food safety, regulatory, and customer requirements
    • Maintain specifications, documentation, and change control processes
    • Support audits (e.g. BRC, ISO, HACCP)
  • Supplier Management
    • Work closely with suppliers to source, trial, and approve materials
    • Monitor supplier performance and support continuous improvement

    What We're Looking For

    • Essential:
    • Experience in a packaging role within food or FMCG manufacturing
    • Strong understanding of packaging materials and production environments
    • Experience running trials and solving technical packaging issues
    • Knowledge of food safety and regulatory requirements
    • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Desirable:
    • Experience working with powder products
    • Knowledge of sustainable packaging solutions
    • Experience with automated packing lines or manufacturing environments
