We currently have a great opportunity to work in our Mid-Market Portfolio Steering team as a Principal Portfolio Analyst. This will be a hybrid role based in our Guildford office. The Mid-Market Portfolio Steering team sits within the Commercial Technical department and closely works with the Underwriting Account teams, Underwriting branches, Pricing, Data, Claims and Actuarial teams to provide recommendations and decisions to support the profitable management of the Mid-Market lines of business in line with strategies and plan.

You will participate in the Global P&C Academy accreditation, enhancing your skills in underwriting, risk engineering, pricing, and claims management while exchanging best practices across the Allianz Group. Furthermore, for pricing-based roles, Allianz Insurance offers a generous study package to enable the actuarial qualification to be obtained through the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries in the UK. Salary Information
Pay: Circa £55,000 per year. Pay is based on relevant experience, skills for the role, and location. Salary is only one part of our total reward package.

About You
Your role will vary day to day, but here is a bit of what you can expect:

  • Developing and managing the team data strategy, monitoring the data assets available to the Mid-Market Portfolio Steering team, and developing new data to support a richer view of portfolio analysis.
  • Working with stakeholders from around the business to manage, update and control key portfolio data assets (e.g. trade, appetite and other segment mappings).
  • Developing and managing the team reporting and dashboard strategy, including driving the approach to automate reporting and reduce reporting overhead in the team.
  • Working with internal data and BI teams to design, develop and implement efficient reporting processes, dashboards and other reporting tools.
  • Supporting and running in-depth portfolio analysis comprising, working with Underwriting Account teams, Pricing, Reserving, and other key stakeholders.
  • Work alongside the pricing, underwriting and actuarial teams to shape, develop and embed new and existing pricing & portfolio methodologies into the portfolio steering rhythm and the wider commercial business.

Essential Skills
We don’t expect you to know everything from day one, but the following will enable you to hit the ground running:

  • Significant experience working within a general insurer environment with strong financial awareness and a robust understanding of how to successfully manage top and bottom line performance of a portfolio.
  • Strong understanding of commercial lines insurance data and metrics, and how these flow through to results and performance monitoring.
  • Previous experience in account/portfolio management or pricing of Commercial Portfolios preferred, but not essential.
  • Strong experience working in data and analytical environments, preferably within commercial lines insurance.
  • Strong experience working in Microsoft Excel, with knowledge or understanding of SAS or SQL or equivalent programming languages preferable, but not essential.
  • Proven ability to understand key underwriting, pricing and actuarial concepts and principles.
