Overview
You lead portfolio remediation for global travel underwriting, starting with the UK, driving technical excellence through deep performance analysis. You partner with Pricing, Actuarial, Claims and Distribution to implement targeted actions that restore rate adequacy and profitability. You ensure actions align with Allianz and AzP standards, support planning with margin analysis, and keep leadership informed with data-driven insights. This role offers impact across cross-functional squads, shaping sustainable outcomes in a complex travel book.
Responsibilities
- Lead remediation efforts across global travel portfolios with primary focus on the United Kingdom.
- Perform deep-dive analysis on client and portfolio performance to identify deterioration drivers such as rate inadequacy, rating factor drift, and risk mix shifts.
- Collaborate with Pricing to ensure tariff and non-tariff books meet expectations; propose and implement adjustments where needed.
- Coordinate with Portfolio Monitoring and Actuarial to identify underperforming segments and define remediation plans using central portfolio tools.
- Ensure underwriting actions comply with Allianz standards and AzP Underwriting Guidelines with strong technical and commercial impact.
- Support annual planning via robust margin analysis and remediation forecasting, highlighting residual risks.
- Maintain transparency on portfolio changes to support reserve adequacy and provisioning.
- Represent underwriting in cross-functional remediation squads with Product, Distribution, and Claims to address root causes and drive profitability.
- Present findings and proposed actions to senior leadership with data-driven rationale and clear outcomes.
Key requirements
- 8+ years of experience in insurance data analysis, pricing, or performance monitoring.
- Degree in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Econometrics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or related field.
- Qualified actuary (e.g., FIA, FSA) or CPA or equivalent is advantageous.
- Strong hands-on experience with MS SQL or equivalent databases.
- Experience using insurance performance monitoring tools.
- Proven data analytics and reporting skills, especially Power BI.
- Advanced MS Excel and broad MS Office proficiency.
- Experience with pricing tools (e.g., Radar) is advantageous.
