The purpose of this role is to lead detailed and sophisticated analysis in order to support the Underwriting and Technical function in achieving the underwriting performance metrics detailed in the Corporate Plan. The Pricing Manager will constantly seek to innovate across all aspects of pricing, including data, software tooling, technical approaches and collaboration with other teams to deliver our pricing sophistication to market. You’ll be our true expert and the advocate for change! We're seeking someone who can combine solid pricing technical expertise with challenging the status quo.
Responsibilities
- Manage the delivery of Pricing Forecasts for the Pricing function.
- Carry out analysis to set the Pricing Best Estimate – Pricing's view of past ultimate claim costs.
- Work closely with individual pricing teams and provide Pricing Forecasts to relevant business areas in a timely manner.
- Work with stakeholders to ensure Forecast inputs are robust.
- Work with Technical Pricing teams to ensure technical premium models reflect the latest view of risk.
- Stay abreast of industry best practice on actuarial methodologies and competitor insights.
- Provide guidance on interpretation/limitations of the Pricing Forecasts.
- Adhere to high model governance standards.
- Deputise for the Head of Actuarial Pricing and support delivery of the Pricing Strategy.
- Manage and develop pricing analysts within the team.
- Deliver reporting required for the following meetings and committees:
- Monthly Expert Smart Circle meetings
- Monthly Pricing and Underwriting Forums
- Insurance Risk Monitors
- Insurance Committee
- Group reporting
- Group Smart Circle
Qualifications
- Educated to degree level in a numerate subject.
- Actuarial qualification is desirable.
- Significant pricing or reserving experience.
- Excellent working knowledge of actuarial methods and principles, ideally in a pricing context.
- Experience managing pricing analysts is preferable.
