Allianz are looking for an experienced Household Underwriting Manager to join our team and play a key role in shaping our household underwriting strategy. You will contribute to the delivery of key performance indicators through application of deep technical insight to inform and elevate decision making, control underwriting standards and business development activity, ensuring business is written in a technically excellent manner and in line with underwriting authority and standards.
You will build and lead a highly collaborative Household underwriting team that focuses on insights, emerging risks, new trends and the evolving use of technology across the market. This role offers strong exposure across the Household business and the opportunity to influence technical direction, performance and capability.
Location: This role has a primary office location of Bournemouth and operates on a hybrid working basis, with flexibility to support individual and business needs.
Salary Information
Pay: Circa £70-75k per year. Pay is based on experience, skills and location, and forms part of our total rewards package.
About You
- You will contribute to the delivery of KPIs through developing and contributing to business strategy and control of underwriting standards.
- You will provide insights into emerging risks, market trends and new technologies, using data to inform underwriting decisions.
- You will present clearly and confidently to a range of stakeholders, translating data and insight into actionable outcomes.
- You will work closely with Pricing, Trading, Claims and Distribution teams to support profitable growth and strong risk selection.
- You will support counter-fraud activity by identifying risk trends and strengthening underwriting controls.
- You will produce high-quality technical training materials and actively support capability development across the underwriting function.
- You will mentor, coach and support underwriters, providing technical guidance and leadership.
Essential Skills
- Proven ability to understand and apply key household underwriting concepts and principles.
- Strong record of delivery against challenging objectives and performance targets.
- Experience monitoring underwriting performance and managing underwriting standards.
- High level of data literacy, with the ability to analyse and interpret performance and risk data.
- Confidence presenting technical information and insights to stakeholders.
- Experience collaborating across functions, including Pricing, Claims and Distribution.
- Supervisory, management or team leadership experience.
- Strong technical judgement and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Desirable Skills
- Experience supporting or contributing to counter-fraud activity.
- Experience identifying and responding to emerging risks and market trends.
- Responsible Artificial Intelligence usage.
