We have an exciting opportunity for a Specialist Engineer to join our Electrical & Fire discipline in the Engineering Compliance Services department. Reporting to the Head of Engineering Compliance Services, you will oversee the electrical and fire service lines. This is a fantastic career development opportunity, with full support, training and mentoring provided to help you succeed and grow in the role.

In this role, you’ll provide an independent and authoritative technical function, shaping, developing and embedding Electrical & Fire standards and quality requirements within our Quality Management System (QMS). Your expertise will ensure consistency, compliance and continuous improvement.

In addition, this role will assist in delivering bespoke specialist services, training, and monitoring (PATR, remote, report and site audits) to demonstrate the ongoing competence of Engineer Surveyors within the Electrical & Fire discipline against the requirements of ISO 9001. Responsibilities include:

  • Developing technical and quality standards with appropriate controls.
  • Monitoring the competency of authorised Engineer Surveyors.
  • Ensuring that the Company Quality Management System (QMS) is maintained through reviewing technical documents against the requirements of ISO 9001.
  • Developing clear scopes of examination, Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) for respective inspection activities.
  • Ensuring specialist technical advice is always available to internal and external customers.
  • Providing content and guidance for induction, training material and online media content programs in conjunction with the Training Team.
  • Carrying out investigations and mitigating risk associated with serious occurrences and potential claims-related incidents under the guidance of the Head of Engineering and Compliance.
  • Providing technical expertise in support and delivery of bespoke specialist inspection services.
  • Driving growth of our electrical and fire compliance services.
  • Managing sub contracted resource.
  • Driving growth and profitability of the electrical and fire service lines.

Salary Information: Pay is based on relevant experience, skills for the role, and location. Salary is only one part of our total reward package.

About You: Have or be willing to progress to a Level 3 certificate in Foundation Fire Risk Assessment to BS8674:2025.

Essential Skills:

  • Proven relevant experience of engineering inspection activities.
  • IEng or working towards.
  • 18th Edition & an NVQ Level 3 or above in an Electrical Engineering subject.
  • Experience of balancing prudent risk management and quality/compliance-based decision making in a relevant technical field.
  • Able to verbally communicate and document engineering risk concepts clearly to non-experts.
  • Working knowledge of the Health, Safety & Quality Management system – ISO 45001.
  • Proven ability to translate complex technical concepts into engaging, actionable insights for diverse audiences, from stakeholder groups to individuals.

Desirable Skills:

  • Responsible Artificial Intelligence usage.
  • Already be a Chartered Engineer (CEng) in the electrical discipline.
