As an Essbase Developer you will play a crucial role in administering the Finance department’s suite of Reporting, Planning, and Business Intelligence systems, with a primary focus on Oracle Essbase. We are specifically seeking candidates with hands-on Oracle Essbase experience. Hyperion application experience is not required for this role. This role involves managing day-to-day system administration tasks, addressing system queries, and supporting both business-as-usual (BAU) activities and development projects.
The ideal candidate will possess a keen attention to detail, a solid understanding of accounting processes within a Financial Services environment, and technical expertise in Oracle Essbase.
This position is on a 12-month fixed term contract basis, based in our Guildford office with expectations of you attending the office at least once per week with a flexible approach to accommodate project needs and deadlines particularly end of month.
Salary Information
Circa £65,000. Pay is based on relevant experience, skills for the role, and location. Salary is only one part of our total reward package.
About You
- BAU Support: Perform day-to-day administration to ensure system maintenance and optimal performance. Apply technical knowledge to manage and resolve support issues effectively. Monitor automated batch processes to ensure smooth operations. Assist with reconciliations to maintain system and data integrity. Address user queries promptly and efficiently. Participate in regular update meetings with internal customers to ensure alignment and communication. Provide training to users, both individually and in groups, focusing on Smartview. Document procedures to ensure consistency and knowledge sharing.
- Development Activities: Attend project meetings as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to provide insights and guidance. Engage in stakeholder management to ensure project alignment and support. Learn and apply the Change Management framework to facilitate smooth transitions. Contribute to system/process design as an SME, ensuring best practices are followed. Offer best practice advice to ensure consistency across projects. Understand the build of new interfaces/processes/reports to support project delivery. Participate in System Testing, User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and other quality assurance activities. Create tailored training documentation to support new initiatives. Provide user training to facilitate adoption of new systems and processes. Support continuous improvement initiatives to meet evolving business needs.
Essential Skills
- Extensive experience with Oracle Essbase. Hyperion application experience is not required for this role.
- Flexible approach to working hours to accommodate project needs and deadlines.
- Highly proficient in PC usage and related technologies.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with staff at all levels.
Desirable Skills
- Part Qualified Accountant or equivalent experience, with knowledge of financial reporting and planning.
- Exposure to other financial systems and tools within the Oracle and SAP suites.
- Experience in a Financial Services environment, understanding its unique accounting processes and requirements.
- Experience using Generative AI tools.
- Any understanding or knowledge of Robotics and Power Apps would be beneficial.
