The purpose of the role is to govern, plan, organise, and manage the end‑to‑end lifecycle of IT assets and configuration management processes across the organization. This includes ensuring the effective tracking, maintenance, optimisation, and strategic planning of IT assets, configurations, and their associated lifecycle stages. The Asset, Configuration, and Lifecycle Product Owner will work collaboratively with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to ensure the organization’s IT assets and configuration management processes are aligned with business needs, compliant with policies, and optimised for cost efficiency and performance. This role will also play a key part in driving the adoption of best practices for asset and configuration management, ensuring accurate and up‑to‑date configuration management databases (CMDB), and enabling effective decision‑making through comprehensive reporting and insights. Additionally, the role will focus on lifecycle management to ensure assets are utilised effectively, replaced or retired at the right time, and aligned with the organization’s strategic goals. This is a hybrid role, based two times a week in our Guildford office.

Salary Information

Pay: Circa £80,000 per year. Pay is based on relevant experience, skills for the role, and location. Salary is only one part of our total reward package.

Responsibilities

  • Governance and Management of Asset and Configuration Suppliers and Outsource Partners – Ensure third‑party suppliers deliver IT asset, configuration, and lifecycle management services in line with agreed service levels, policies, and business requirements.
  • Ownership of Asset and Configuration Management Processes – Own and maintain the IT asset and configuration management processes, including the Configuration Management Database (CMDB), ensuring data accuracy, completeness, and alignment with ITIL best practices.
  • Lifecycle Management of IT Assets – Oversee the full lifecycle of IT assets, from procurement and deployment to maintenance, optimisation, and retirement, ensuring cost‑effective utilisation and alignment with organisational goals.
  • Management and Remediation of Technical Debt – Identify, document, and prioritise technical debt across the IT estate, collaborating with stakeholders to develop and execute remediation plans that reduce risk, enhance system performance, and align with the organisation’s strategic objectives.
  • Governance and Reporting – Develop and maintain reporting mechanisms for asset utilisation, configuration accuracy, lifecycle status, and compliance, providing actionable insights to stakeholders.
  • Collaboration with IT Security and Compliance Teams – Work closely with IT Security Operations to ensure IT assets and configurations are secure, compliant with regulatory requirements, and aligned with security policies.
  • Driving Innovation and Optimisation – Identify opportunities for innovation and improvement in asset and configuration management processes, leveraging automation and advanced tools to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Cost Management – Oversee cost‑effective management of IT assets, actively identify, assess, and address technical debt to minimise financial impact, improve operational efficiency, and align with long‑term organisational goals and budgets.

Essential Skills

  • Deep understanding of infrastructure and application elimination/decommission approaches, methods and models.
  • Deep understanding of asset and configuration management.
  • Good understanding of IT workplace, data centre, network and telecommunications infrastructure operations both within the insurance and market generally.
  • Deep understanding of outsource vendor governance and management practices.
