This role plays a critical function in ensuring that each segment within the Broker Motor IHP portfolios is priced with precision and strategic intent. By leveraging sophisticated analytical tools and underwriting insight, it ensures pricing is competitively aligned with the organisations financial objectives, while adhering to regulatory standards and embracing innovation.

About You

Your role will vary day to day, but here is a bit of what you can expect:

  • Portfolio pricing accuracy for IHP Car and Van (with other portfolios to follow once ML integration is completed).
  • Build and maintain excellent working relationships with key stakeholders within AZP.
  • Identify Opportunities to adjust claims cost prediction models.
  • Establish a statistically robust actual versus expected claims monitoring process.
  • Run processes to detect segments where emerging claims information significantly differs from expectations.
  • Recommend changes to technical cost models owned by the Pricing Technical Excellence team based on analysis and insight.
  • Ensure our reported metrics are as accurate as they can be using the latest cost models and latest view of expenses when available.
  • Be accountable for the quality of the output from your team, ensuring all recommendations are based on accurate data and insight.
  • Ensure proposals are internally debated/challenged to achieve a technical excellent standard, leading to informed business decisions and presenting a range of scenarios where appropriate.
  • Work extensively within WTW Radar to predict outcomes of various pricing and underwriting options and be able to confidently provide a recommendation to key stakeholders.
  • Build and manage an appropriate MI suite to manage Portfolio performance.

Essential Skills

We don\’t expect you to know everything from day one, but the following will enable you to hit the ground running:

  • Educational Background: A bachelor\’s degree in finance, economics, actuarial science, business administration, or a related field. A master\’s degree or professional certifications (e.g. FIA, ACII) might be preferred.
  • Technical Expertise: Proficiency in financial modelling, budgeting, and cost analysis, with an understanding of statistical models and their application in pricing.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and statistical modelling tools (e.g. SQL, Python, WTW Radar).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with stakeholders and present findings.
  • Business Acumen: Familiarity with UK insurance markets and insurance regulations, with the ability to identify market trends and opportunities.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven track record in driving financial performance and ensuring compliance with regulations, and ability to lead a team effectively.
  • Resilience – able to accept challenge and debate to decisions / recommendations with senior stakeholders.
