We are looking for a Clinical Trials Underwriter based in London.
The Impact You Will Have
At Allianz Commercial we combine specialist expertise and global reach with high levels of AA rated underwriting capacity to industry specific exposures. This allows us to establish a reputation as leaders of some of the largest and most complex Recall risks in the market. Based in London and reporting to the Clinical Trials Team Leader, Regional Unit London, you will work in close collaboration with a range of stakeholders to deliver on Underwriting goals in the Liability line of business, implementing measures as required and maintaining a keen eye on business needs.
Some of your specific responsibilities could include:
- Develop pipeline and execute on broker plans.
- Underwrite in line with the Liability governance framework - e.g. Underwriting Authorities, Underwriting Guidelines, Rules and Principles.
- Negotiate participation, pricing and terms and conditions.
- Develop and maintain relationships with brokers, clients and other relevant stakeholders.
- Achieve agreed financial performance targets.
- Ensure accurate policy documentation is issued to producers or producers has issued documentation.
- Coordinate, assess and present the key metrics for Regional Manager Regional Unit London in line with Allianz Commercial’s Liability strategy.
- Collate and utilise underwriting and claims data to assist Regional Manager in the management of responsible portfolio.
- Recommend improvements to existing reporting procedures based on data collation and research.
- Create and maintain positive relationships with key producers and clients and other relevant stakeholders (e.g. risk managers).
- Positively represent Allianz Commercial externally to the market.
- Proactively work with other functions (e.g. operations, credit control, multinational) to resolve outstanding accounts query.
- Manage timely and accurate booking of policy premiums and credit control / collection processes.
- Develop multinational experience and keep current on state/territory issues, regulations and trends.
- Training, developing and coaching of less experienced staff (including Junior Underwriters, Operations and Credit Control).
What You’ll Bring to the Role
- An educational background in either Pharmaceutical Science, Chemistry or Biology is preferred, though not essential.
- You are CII qualified or equivalent or working towards it.
- Experience in underwriting profitable business within the Clinical Trials Life Science/Liability segment of large corporate international insurance, or experience as a Broker in this field.
- Multinational experience and a specialised understanding of regional / local Liability insurance markets and competitor landscape.
- You have recognised relationships with clients and brokers at peer group level and are established within the market.
- A proactive, dynamic, and results-driven mindset, with the ability to react quickly and stay on top of tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills, with an ability to persuade others to act without direct authority.
- Ability to effectively absorb information from various sources, then analyze, study or examine data in detail and draw appropriate conclusions.
- The ability to utilize AI tools to support day-to-day tasks, improve efficiency, and contribute to data-driven decision-making is valuable.
- Ability to work in a complex, global matrix organization.
