Flexible location: Bournemouth, Bristol, Leeds, Guildford, London, Manchester.

Salary

Circa £65,000 per year, based on relevant experience, skills and location.

  • Key Accountabilities
  • Stakeholder Management
  • Understand the product/application and apply business knowledge, managing stakeholder understanding of its functionality.
  • Manage multiple products/applications across multiple customer journeys.
  • Measure delivered value against business KPIs and ensure business understands responsibilities in delivering change.
  • Maintain awareness of dependencies on other ARTs to deliver valuable change to stakeholders.
  • Regularly demo Scrum team progress with support from the team.
  • Communicate closely with the Development Team and manage cross‑team changes with other Product Managers.
  • Backlog Maintenance
  • Act as the customer proxy to define and prioritise stories in the team backlog.
  • Ensure the backlog is appropriately prioritised and refined ahead of sprint planning.
  • Make decisions on user story acceptance, rejection and sprint placement, mindful of MVP value.
  • Align backlog with wider portfolios and collaborate with other Product Owners.
  • Scrum Team Engagement
  • Influence and provide direction to the Scrum team for backlog refinement and user story writing.
  • Confirm the definition of “Done” aligns with expectations.
  • Ensure relevant SMEs/Knowledge Management Experts are available for sprints.
  • Align with fellow Product Owners, Business Owners and Programme Leads on design, build and test cycles.
  • Decision Making
  • Sign off on all development work, ensuring quality and fit for purpose.
  • Provide quick, concise decisions to enable team pivots.
  • Maintain a well‑defined backlog of future change items for future sprint planning.
  • Escalation
  • Escalate and own deviations, blockers, dependencies to keep delivery on track.
  • Coaching and Support Management
  • Support junior Product Owners as required.

Essential Skills

  • Previous experience as a Product Owner with Agile/Project change background.
  • Proven track record of delivering data‑driven solutions and change through technology.
  • Experience launching and refining new products and creating launch plans.
  • Leadership of cross‑functional teams, setting priorities and reviewing deliverables.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management, autonomous decision‑making.
  • Customer‑first mindset.
  • Good technical understanding of current systems, applications and business processes.
  • Strong knowledge of Agile methodology and experience with Scrum or Kanban.
  • Deep business knowledge within Mid‑Corporate vision.
  • Experience working in insurance or financial services.
