The predicted salary is between 37000 - 51000 ÂŁ per year.
The purpose of this role is to inspect vehicles and equipment to provide expert advice to claims and underwriting departments on the most appropriate method to deal with a claim. The motor engineer negotiates the method and cost of repair and, where a vehicle is beyond repair or unsafe to repair, accurately values the vehicle and negotiates settlement with the customer.
Location: Manchester, Newcastle Upon Tyne and surrounding areas. This role requires you to work remotely from home, balancing desk-based tasks with physical inspections as required. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality, correct methodology and cost-effectiveness of vehicle repairs, while providing valuable support and guidance to our stakeholders and claims colleagues.
Salary Information: Circa 44K Per Year. Pay is based on relevant experience, skills for the role, and location. Salary is only one part of our total reward package.
About You:
- Conduct vehicle inspections both remotely and physically, with the ratio of desk to physical inspections varying based on business needs.
- Utilize Audatex and imaging tools to assess vehicles, primarily from our approved repairer networks and non-approved repairers.
- Negotiate repair methods and costs, ensuring adherence to contracts by network repairers.
- Handle total loss settlements and provide technical advice and support to claims colleagues.
- Work in partnership with local network and non-network repairers to ensure efficient and effective repair processes.
- Engage in salvage categorisation, requiring familiarity with the motor vehicle salvage code of practice.
Essential Skills:
- Experience in the motor vehicle repair industry with proficiency in Audatex.
- Experience with vehicle assessment and estimating.
- Preferably qualified to ATA VDA or IAEA level, or actively working towards these qualifications.
- Understanding of the motor vehicle salvage code of practice.
- Good communicator, able to work independently, make decisions.

Desirable Skills:
- Preferably City and Guilds or equivalent in a vehicle repair discipline.
- Experience using Generative AI tools such as onsite Webchat / Chat Bot systems and journey is desirable but not essential.
