Starting salary £35,339 plus excellent benefits. This is an exciting new opportunity for a home-based, mechanical engineer covering Kent or Birmingham to join Allianz Engineering, a division of one of the largest insurers and financial services in the world.

As an Engineering Technician, you will assess a wide range of mechanical plant equipment to ensure it is continually safe to use and operate. This could range from loose lifting equipment to a submersible pump or fixed motor. You will anticipate our client's needs and help ensure they comply with relevant legislation. You will work closely with other Engineering Technicians and will be managed by a Senior Operations Team Leader. Inspections will be documented electronically for fast and efficient reporting to clients.

This role involves hands-on, non-intrusive inspections of plant and equipment across various locations, requiring physical activity, working at heights, in confined spaces, and exposure to noise and dust.

About You

  • Passion for engineering, self-driven, with strong client interaction skills.
  • Experience with mechanical equipment, such as manufacturing, repair, or maintenance roles.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Effective time management and independence in organizing work.
  • Qualification requirements: NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 3 years hands-on engineering experience.
  • Full UK driving license.
