Head of Distribution Trading Branch , you will lead the overall performance and day-to-day operations of the branch, delivering strong local distribution results while cultivating a positive, engaged and high-performing culture.

Reporting to the Regional Head of Distribution & Trading, you will provide visible, effective leadership to all branch colleagues, ensuring exceptional service delivery, robust regulatory compliance and clear alignment with regional priorities.

Location: This role is based in our Chelmsford office. Please note that this is a hybrid working role with the expectation that you attend the office 50% of your time.

About You

Lead Distribution and Trading for the branch, acting as the face to market for Allianz and driving market engagement.

  • Act as the most senior leader in the branch, building strong broker and partner relationships and representing Allianz Commercial locally.
  • Lead end-to-end distribution strategy for the branch, optimising trading performance in line with local market conditions and central initiatives.
  • Identify and prioritise key broker relationships to drive growth and outperform plans.
  • Translate national strategy into local execution with Strategic Account Managers, Segment Managers and UK Markets teams.
  • Structure and monitor deal arrangements and support proposition development based on market insight.
  • Drive go-to-market strategies across channels including UK Markets, Digital Trading, and Large Corporate & Specialty.
  • Develop and deliver broker engagement strategies, including profiling, events, and consistent relationship management.
  • Orchestrate broker-focused propositions across cross-functional teams (e. g. underwriting, claims).
  • Build Allianz presence locally, including market engagement and industry participation.
  • Collaborate across Allianz as part of One Allianz.
  • Trading Performance and Delivery
  • Drive trading performance using production disciplines, monitoring new business, renewals and rate to forecast and deliver plans.
  • Foster a high-performing trading culture across distribution and underwriting teams.
  • Partner with CRM and UK Markets teams to deliver effective client relationship management and cross-class trading.
  • Ensure consistent, high-quality service delivery aligned to agreed standards.
  • Use market intelligence, data and trading tools (e. g. exclusives) to maintain competitive advantage.
  • Leadership and Culture
  • Lead branch strategy, culture and engagement, managing distribution teams and influencing underwriting support.
  • Motivate, coach and develop teams, driving performance, innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Build talent pipelines and support recruitment in partnership with UK Markets.
  • Promote strong learning, development, diversity and inclusion cultures.
  • Align closely with regional leadership to ensure consistency, share insights and escalated issues.

  • Ensure adherence to the distribution operating model and regulatory standards.
  • Deliver pipeline, cross-sell and performance targets (new business, quotes, strike rate).
  • Embed data-driven decision making, broker planning and market mapping.
  • Maintain strong governance, compliance, and use of broker data platforms.
  • Deliver excellent customer/broker service and manage complaints effectively.
  • Manage local distribution expense budgets.

  • Degree desirable or equivalent qualification with relevant post graduate qualification/experience.
  • Financial acumen (e. g. Financial Tools for Account Managers).
