You will lead the shaping, development and delivery of advanced data science solutions that drive insight, optimisation and decision-making across the business.
As a senior member of the data science team, you will provide technical leadership, influence strategy and ensure best practice in machine learning, analytics, governance and ethical AI.
Location: This is a hybrid role that can be based in our London, Bournemouth or Bristol offices.

Pay is based on experience, skills and location, and forms part of our total rewards package.
About You
- You will lead the design, development and deployment of end-to-end data science solutions that support company initiatives, strategy and decision-making.
- You will take ownership of complex analytical problems, translating ambiguous business requirements into robust, scalable data science approaches.
- You will apply advanced statistical, machine learning and optimisation techniques to extract insight and deliver measurable business value.
- You will provide technical leadership within the team, setting standards for analytical quality, model performance, documentation and governance.
- You will coach and mentor data scientists, supporting capability development and fostering a culture of learning and continuous improvement.
- You will collaborate closely with stakeholders across the business to influence priorities, shape solutions and communicate insights clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
- You will oversee the validation, monitoring and maintenance of models in production, ensuring solutions remain effective, interpretable and ethically sound.
- You will nurture python package work, with a desire to develop ever-more professional software products that afford shorter lead-times for new ML capabilities and model retrains.
Essential Skills
- Strong expertise in data science, mathematics, statistics or a related quantitative discipline.
- Advanced experience programming in Python and using data science and machine learning libraries.
- In-depth knowledge of statistical and machine learning techniques including regression, classification, clustering, optimisation and ensemble methods.
- Experience delivering end-to-end data science solutions, from data acquisition and feature engineering through to model deployment and monitoring.
- Strong understanding of model governance in a commercial environment.
- Ability to lead technical discussions, influence stakeholders and explain complex analytical concepts clearly.
- Experience working collaboratively across multi-disciplinary teams.
Desirable Skills
- Experience with time series modelling or advanced optimisation techniques.
- Knowledge in generative AI and agentic AI solutions
- Familiarity with cloud-based analytics platforms, big data technologies or MLOps practices.
- Experience designing experiments, A/B testing and evaluating model impact.
- Background working in a regulated, financial services (ideally insurance) or large-scale enterprise environment.
- Experience contributing to data science standards, communities of practice or centre-of-excellence models.
- Responsible Artificial Intelligence usage.
