We keep people moving when their plans are disrupted. This role is for experienced vehicle technicians who like variety, autonomy and being the person who makes the call at the roadside. You’ll start and finish from home, run your day from a fully equipped van, and use your diagnostic skills and judgement to get customers safely back on the road or arrange recovery when that’s the right choice. If you prefer field‑based work, clear outcomes, and direct customer contact over a workshop environment, you’ll fit here.
What you can expect
- £38k to £41.2k
- £8,000 bonus, plus a guaranteed additional £3,000 bonus in your first 12 months
- Realistic OTE of £55,000; top performers earn north of £60,000
- No overnight or 12‑hour shifts; average 42.75 hours per week between 7 am and 10 pm, Monday to Sunday
- Alternating start times (7 am/11 am), two weekends off per month, rota set 12 months in advance
- Paid overtime, Bank Holiday supplement and a day off in lieu
- Private medical cover, pension contributions up to 6.5%, and a wide range of discounts and benefits
- Ongoing training, including EV Level 3 IMI Accredited and ATA Level 3 roadside diagnostics if you aren’t already qualified
Key responsibilities
- Attend roadside assistance calls, assess the situation, diagnose faults using modern diagnostic tools, and repair at scene wherever safe and possible so customers can continue their journey.
- Make practical, safety‑led decisions on repair versus recovery; when needed, arrange professional recovery and dealer workshop attention.
- Own each job end‑to‑end: communicate clearly with customers, set expectations, and provide reassurance in their moment of need.
- Operate and maintain your fully equipped van, manage tools and parts, follow safety procedures, and keep accurate notes in our systems.
- Meet service, safety and quality standards while working efficiently toward achievable targets with clear financial rewards.
- Work effectively in an environment shaped by artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, data analytics and cloud‑based tools, using insight responsibly and in line with our standards for data governance, security and ethical use.
Key requirements
- Proven experience as a vehicle or roadside technician who can work independently at the scene; this matters because you’ll often be the sole decision‑maker and fixer on site.
- Strong diagnostic and fault‑finding skills with modern equipment; you need to quickly identify issues and decide the safest, fastest route to get the customer moving.
- Confident, calm customer communication; you’re the face of Allianz Partners at the roadside and responsible for managing expectations and safety.
- Comfortable using IT, mobile apps and diagnostic software; our tools and processes are digital, and accurate data capture is part of the job.
- Full UK driving licence and confidence driving a fully equipped van; you’ll travel across Bristol or surrounding areas.
- Relevant technical qualifications (e.g., manufacturer apprenticeship or equivalent City & Guilds Parts I & II, NVQ/B‑Tech diploma).
- Existing EV credentials are welcome; if not, you’ll complete EV Level 3 IMI Accredited and ATA Level 3 roadside diagnostics training with us.
- Flexibility to work the rotating shift pattern between 7 am and 10 pm, including some weekends and Bank Holidays; no overnights, with paid overtime when you start earlier or finish later.
Benefits
- Competitive annual leave, pension contribution up to 6.5%, private medical cover, discounts on Allianz products and a range of retail vouchers, free roadside assistance after 6 months’ probation, and up to three paid days for corporate social responsibility.
- We also provide a comprehensive Employee Assistance Programme with confidential helpline and well‑being resources.
