As Wording Specialist you will support product development through maintaining, updating and developing policy wordings and documents to align with business goals and customer needs. This includes drafting and amending policy wordings and supplementary documents to ensure contract integrity, risk mitigation, and compliance with regulatory and Group standards. The role supports innovation and collaborates with various business functions to deliver strategic objectives. It requires strong underwriting knowledge and technical expertise.
Key Accountabilities
- To support Product development through Wordings, Product design and Governance.
- Provides expert technical knowledge and insight to policy wordings ensuring these important customer documents are maintained.
- Manages internal and external queries, dealing with them in an efficient, practical and professional manner both verbally and in writing.
- Collaborates with underwriting account teams, sustainability leads, claims, customer propositions, and distribution functions to support excellence in policy wordings.
- An in-depth understanding of the make-up of policy wordings/clauses including non-standard covers available and their implications.
- Actively provide input to the Transformation project in respect of the design of future product wordings and documentation.
- Aware of different market approaches and competitors and how they impact on Allianz Products.
- Ensures up-to-date knowledge and understanding of all relevant compliance and regulatory rules and procedures, including group requirements.
- Conduct product value assessments to ensure products deliver customer value and align with business strategies.
- Use tools available for simplification of product and documentation processes including Product Library and comparison tools.
Technical Skills
- Expertise in drafting, designing, and maintaining policy wordings and other insurance-related documentation, demonstrating technical proficiency in applying insurance contract law.
- Understands causes and costs of claims and can suggest action to mitigate loss via our wordings.
- First class drafting skills in English.
- Full working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Excellent understanding of how DA and Facilities work.
Experience
- Strong ability to make informed decisions that drive underwriting success and operational efficiency.
- Proven ability to support projects.
- Solid background in insurance underwriting.
- Proficient in drafting and maintaining commercial policy wordings.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills across stakeholders.
- Ability to collaborate across functions including claims, legal, and distribution.
- Ability to communicate ideas clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
Qualifications
- Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) qualifications or University Degree (or similar) desirable but not essential for the role.
