Join our dynamic Inspection Underwriting team, the frontline of our Engineering Inspection Services! As the first point of contact for our customers, you’ll play a key role in delivering a smooth, supportive, and standout customer journey. We’re looking for someone who is customer driven, team‑focused, and ready to thrive.
In this role, you’ll take ownership of a panel of Broker and Client accounts. Underwrite Inspection products across the UK region. You’ll work to meet business targets while ensuring every decision aligns with our underwriting standards: consistent, confident, and commercially sound.
With the flexibility to be based in either our Manchester or Birmingham office, this hybrid role offers a blend of collaboration and autonomy, with 2–3 days a week spent working alongside your team in the office.
Salary Information
Pay: Circa ÂŁ35,000 per year. Pay is based on relevant experience, skills for the role, and location. Salary is only one part of our total reward package.
About You
- Underwrite existing business and mid‑term adjustments, including analysing data, preparing referrals, and ensuring accuracy throughout.
- Deliver outstanding customer experiences every day by building rapport, providing exceptional service to both internal and external customers, and contributing to long‑term growth and retention.
- Develop strong, trusted broker relationships through virtual and face‑to‑face meetings, effective negotiation, and consistent, high‑quality service.
- Manage customer enquiries with confidence, handling calls and written queries efficiently and within agreed service standards.
- Negotiate within your authority and escalate appropriately to drive growth. Use your influencing skills to guide customers toward the best outcomes.
- Prepare, negotiate, and issue renewal terms on time, anticipating potential objections and responding with well-considered solutions.
- Work collaboratively as part of a supportive, close-knit team, contributing to shared success.
- Be proactive and engaged, supporting wider teams, embracing new challenges, and stepping outside your comfort zone to grow.
- Champion continuous improvement, offering ideas and feedback to help evolve our service in a fast‑changing environment.
Essential Skills
- Previous experience in an Underwriting role working within Inspections or Insurance giving you the foundation to understand our customers and products.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly, confidently, and professionally.
- Proactive and self‑motivated, ready to take initiative while contributing positively within a collaborative team environment.
- Great attention to detail and solid analytical ability, ensuring accuracy and sound judgment in all decisions.
- Confident decision maker, able to assess information effectively and act with clarity and purpose.
- Committed to your own growth, with a genuine passion for professional development and a drive to progress toward CII qualifications.
