Whether it’s aircraft, international business or offshore wind parks, Allianz Commercial has an extensive range of risks covered when it comes to protecting businesses. We are looking for a Risk Consulting Engineer with a focus on our Property Line of Business, based in our London office.

Your Team

Our Allianz Risk Consulting (ARC) team is made up of experienced engineers from a wide range of technical and scientific disciplines. The team provides a flexible range of risk consulting services, from natural hazards, fire safety, and human and organizational risk factors to in-depth analysis of industry operations, and financial exposures, across all industry sectors and risks.

The Impact You Will Have

As a Risk Consulting Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in delivering expert risk consulting services to clients across diverse industrial sectors. This position requires a strong technical foundation, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to thrive under pressure. The successful candidate will act as a trusted advisor, providing actionable insights and supporting strategic change initiatives within the organization.

Some of your specific responsibilities could include:

  • Providing guidance and professional advice to clients and underwriting from both a location-level and a holistic, program-wide perspective.
  • Analysing complex risk scenarios and proposing innovative, practical solutions tailored to client needs at client stewardship meetings.
  • Promoting and technically supporting ARC services and solutions, with the objective of enhancing client resilience.
  • Working with underwriting, the client and broker to develop appropriate value-added solutions through tailored loss control programs and services, including development of scope and cost of risk consulting services.
  • Proactively engaging in global and regional projects to develop new innovative risk consulting services.
  • Completing on-site engineering survey assessments, obtaining appropriate data, identifying hazards, generating comprehensive risk engineering reports and recommendations to evaluate exposures and controls.
  • Developing and maintaining positive relationships with underwriting, claims and distribution colleagues.
  • Sharing technical expertise with colleagues and customers through training, technical guidance documents delivery or participation in a Segment Expert Teams (SETs) in Allianz Risk Consulting.
  • Contributing to knowledge sharing and mentoring within the organization.

What You’ll Bring to the Role

With further education in Engineering you bring around 5 years of professional experience in an industrial sector, including exposure to insurance or risk management. You are innovative and resolutely client-centric, keen to apply your broad engineering experience to our clients’ complex challenges. You bring:

  • Familiarity with insurance market practices and risk assessment methodologies.
  • Ability to assess natural hazard vulnerabilities in international business models and to develop strategies to mitigate risks associated with extreme weather events and natural catastrophes.
  • Knowledge of global fire protection standards and codes (NFPA, FM Global standards, ISO fire safety codes).
  • Strong understanding of windstorm, severe convective storm, flood and earthquake risk evaluation and their implications for property and business continuity.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and consulting skills with the ability to communicate and consult at account and site levels effectively.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, creative and critical-thinking skills.
  • Project management skills, able to take ownership and a highly collaborative approach.
  • Ability to perform under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • A solid understanding of data analysis, automation and AI tools is required, with an awareness of ethical AI usage. You are able to support current company initiatives aimed at enhancing productivity and modernizing risk assessments.
