Overview: This role can be based in New York, London or Munich. The Underwriting Transformation team, reporting directly to the Chief Underwriting Officer of Allianz Commercial, drives or supports the global implementation and delivery of the Allianz Commercial Underwriting Transformation strategies. The team oversees various people, process, and technology changes, including IT product management, to enable more effective transformation. Acting as a key facilitator, the team collaborates with and influences diverse stakeholders—such as Global and Regional Line of Business Heads, Operations, Allianz Technology, Global Programs, Global Pricing & CAT, Claims, UWIS, Legal, Compliance, and CBO—to prioritise initiatives, monitor change capacity and steer delivery. The goal of this new team is to ensure an integrated, efficient, and effective approach to navigating the organisation's complex and evolving landscape and ensure changes are aligned to our key business objectives.
Impact You Will Have: This is a critical leadership role within the Office of CUO Transformation team and BMP program that will represent and help drive business process and requirements harmonisation and prioritisation, best practice identification and change management for UW, Pricing, CAT and Distribution on a cross lines basis. It will also play a key role in ensuring effective and timely 2-way communications between the BMP program and UW Sponsors / UW teams and Distribution. Additionally, it will be a key driver of ensuring alignment to and delivery of the programs and businesses strategic goals and ensuring there is measurable benefit realisation and user adoption. This role has 2 direct reports assisting in the coordination and support of all their required duties. In addition, it has all Business Owners representing UW, Pricing, CAT and Distribution across the program matrix reporting to them and the respective Global LOB or Functional Head.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and coordinate Line of Business Owners (BOs) across Underwriting, Pricing, CAT, and Distribution for BMP initiatives and deliveries.
- Promote a transformative mindset among BOs and Sponsors, driving harmonization with a "common as possible, different as necessary" approach to enhance process, data, and system efficiency and integrity.
- Maintain strategic oversight of program goals and business benefits, ensuring alignment with BMP and BOs' objectives, timelines, and milestones.
- Monitor and report on BMP and BOs' progress, addressing risks or issues promptly with mitigation strategies to minimize impacts.
- Drive harmonization, standardization, best practices, and innovation across the program, ensuring realistic scoping for a workable MVP and phased capability enhancements post-MVP.
- Collaborate with Change Management to lead cross-functional change initiatives across Underwriting, Pricing, CAT, Distribution, and End-to-End functions.
- Support Executive Sponsors with transparent and frequent updates on program benefits, costs, risks, issues, and progress.
- Ensuring UW and Distribution Sponsorship engagement at key times and Sponsors have the tools required to fulfil their critical change management roles.
- Partner with BMP leadership to review program business case costs benefits, OKRs, and ensure post-go-live user adoption and benefit realization monitoring.
- Proactively manage and monitor RAIDD (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies, Decisions) across the program.
- Align business and technical objectives across governance, compliance, and value realization for seamless execution.
- Represent Sponsors and team needs in program governance and leadership meetings.
What You'll Bring To The Role: Experience working on a complex cross lines underwriting workbench program delivery and/or process re-engineering initiative. Solid understanding of multiple commercial / P&C specialty underwriting lines and geographies and markets, ideally in the role of UW at some point in your career. Exceptional 'all levels' stakeholder management, influencing and command decision making skills. Change management certification or training ideal. Or significant demonstrable experience in leading the 'people side' of change across a similar transformation initiative. Understanding of Agile, Waterfall and hybrid project management delivery practices also ideal. The ability to ensure ethical AI practices and stay updated with emerging AI technologies will be key to maintaining a competitive advantage.
