We are looking for a Global Head of Underwriting Integrity and Solutions, based in Munich (Germany) or London (UK).
Your Team
The Global Underwriting Integrity and Solutions team is committed to underwriting excellence, ensuring compliance, and mitigating risks. Through collaboration, expertise, and continuous learning, we drive positive change, streamline underwriting processes, and uphold the highest standards of underwriting governance.
Allianz Commercial
Allianz Commercial is a trusted partner for a wide range of tailored commercial and specialty insurance solutions designed to protect MidCorp, Specialty and LargeCorp businesses. Formerly known as “AGCS” in the market, this new franchise is Allianz Group’s integrated global model for serving the Commercial Property & Casualty insurance segment.
The Impact You Will Have
Reporting directly to the Chief Underwriting Officer (Board Member), you will define, implement and ensure a robust governance framework, guaranteeing adherence to established standards, and maintaining control over end‑to‑end processes. Leading a global team, you will drive excellence and efficiency in this key area of our business within CUO, representing and supporting all Global LOBs. This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact and contribute to our success in the commercial insurance industry.
This role ensures that a holistic and effective underwriting governance framework is in place and adhered to globally throughout Allianz Commercial in close alignment with Allianz Group (including effective controls like business reviews and holistic follow‑up on findings and the built‑up of a solid Facility Governance framework). This includes the integration of MidCorp and Large Corp Governance to allow for a holistic steering and management of commercial business in Allianz Commercial. Additionally, this role is in charge of the Underwriting Academy which provides technical trainings to all Underwriters across Allianz Commercial. Given the significance of our ongoing transformation and the seniority of the stakeholders involved, this role requires seniority and expertise in underwriting processes. You will contribute to the successful integration of the underwriting governance structure in a friendly, professional, and collaborative manner.
Responsibilities
- Leading, motivating, and growing a diverse team of experts; federating internal stakeholders towards a common goal.
- Ensuring effective underwriting governance and risk management within Allianz Commercial, for example ensuring compliance with internal policies, industry regulations and legal requirements while implementing robust underwriting risk‑management practices.
- Developing and implementing underwriting policies and guidelines that align with the organisation’s goals and risk appetite, continuously reviewing and updating policies to reflect changes in regulation, industry best practices and emerging risk.
- Representing and supporting CUO (including all Global LOBs) within all internal and external underwriting governance and compliance‑related tasks and topics, including delegated authority business.
- Enabling the integration of MidCorp and LargeCorp Governance to allow for a holistic steering and management of commercial business in Allianz Commercial.
- Optimising portfolio performance, enhancing process efficiency, and providing leadership in developing underwriting policies and strategies.
- Leading the Underwriting Academy to provide relevant training to the full underwriting community, enabling the global underwriting strategy and technical excellence.
Qualifications
- Extensive global and commercial underwriting experience (10+ years) in a large insurance company, including 5+ years as a transactional underwriter. Profound understanding of underwriting governance, especially for complex international portfolios.
- Advanced technical underwriting skills to break down complex problems, determine optimal solutions, and drive implementation. Exceptional analytical and problem‑solving skills, with data‑driven decision‑making and intermediate proficiency in AI.
- Strong relationship‑building skills with stakeholders across the Group and industry, fostering collaboration and driving results. Close collaboration with CUO and other CxO functions globally and regionally. Commendable experience in bringing people together cross‑functionally to achieve and implement results.
- Proactive in initiating and driving change, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation. Passionate about leading change during significant growth and transformation, despite uncertainty and ambiguity.
- Expertise in conflict management, arbitrage, and independent decision‑making. Strong fact‑based decisiveness to swiftly and effectively resolve issues.
- A deep knowledge of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML), with the ability to leverage AI‑driven insights to shape strategic decisions and drive innovation across the organisation.
Benefits
We are committed to nurturing an inclusive environment where everyone feels they belong. We offer a hybrid working model, which recognises the value of striking a balance between in‑person collaboration and remote working. Please feel free to discuss flexible working arrangements with us.

From career development and digital learning programmes to international career mobility, we offer lifelong learning for our employees worldwide and an environment where innovation, delivery and empowerment are fostered.
From our support for flexible working, health and wellbeing (including private healthcare and generous parental leave benefits), to helping people return from career breaks with experience that nothing else can teach. We’ve got your back.
With opportunities to be engaged in shaping a future that is safe, inclusive and sustainable, we care for the tomorrows of our people, our industry and our clients.
