We are looking for an ART Structured Underwriter, based in London.
Team
You will be joining a team of 7 underwriters, based in London, all with different backgrounds in insurance from broking to actuarial and operations. The ART team sits within the wider Allianz Commercial and predominantly looks at multi‐year, multi‐line, structured insurance or captive reinsurance programmes. As we work across all lines of business, we also maintain strong relationships with the other underwriting teams within Allianz in order to support our underwriting decisions. The wider London team also includes persons from ART legal, claims, actuarial and deal management with whom we work closely on a daily basis.
Impact You Will Have
You will look to underwrite profitable new and renewal business to meet Line of Business (LoB) targets both locally and regionally. You will also be responsible for negotiating participation, pricing and terms and conditions. You will take ownership of accounts and clients, ensuring their needs are met and expectations exceeded, while also developing and maintaining strong relationships with brokers and clients.
Responsibilities
- Underwrite new and renewal accounts to meet targets, with guidance on negotiating terms with brokers and managing capacity.
- Ensure underwriting practices align with governance frameworks, achieving contract certainty at inception and utilizing pricing tools effectively.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive file records for each risk and transaction, supporting policy administration and credit control processes.
- Contribute to the regional Underwriting strategy, assist in training and coaching staff, and manage referrals with supervision.
- Support new business acquisition and retention efforts, represent Allianz Commercial in the market, and build strong relationships with brokers, clients and stakeholders.
What You'll Bring To The Role
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in underwriting or relevant experience in a broker role, such as Account Executive.
- Solid understanding of insurance products, portfolio management and the regional/local insurance market landscape.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with brokers and other key stakeholders in the market.
- Familiarity with insurance placements and their applications, including multinational transactions.
- Knowledge of the legal and regulatory framework relevant to the insurance industry.
- Experience in risk assessment and management within a complex organisational structure.
- Competence in pricing analysis, contract drafting and policy management.
- Strong analytical skills with effective communication abilities.
- Familiarity with captives and their placement structure is a plus.
- A willingness to learn and explore how AI can enhance your role and the broader organisation is expected.
