We are looking for a Construction Risk Engineer, Technical Lead, having a focus on liability exposures. Experience with CAR (Contractors' All Risks) exposures and/or civil engineering projects is an advantage. You will be responsible for developing the Construction risk management discipline, providing loss control expertise, support and assistance to our customers, and assisting Allianz underwriting in risk selection and retention.

You'll provide ongoing co-ordination and monitoring of loss prevention activity, the servicing of assigned accounts, and loss control survey work. Passionate about your fields of expertise, you will track technical developments and share knowledge with colleagues, looking for continual improvements in risk assessment criteria and tools in close alignment with Claims and Underwriting teams. This position would suit someone already in a similar role or looking for the next step in their career. This is a home-based role, with travel required across the UK.

Salary Information

Salary: Circa £75,000. Pay is based on relevant experience, skills for the role, and location. Salary is only one part of our total reward package.

About You

You will be keeping up to date with and ongoing development of your knowledge in respect of Construction risk management and the implications of relevant UK regulation. Liaising and collaborating with underwriting account and claims teams, aiding the development and implementation of underwriting strategy and standards in respect of technical developments, legislation, and establishing lessons learned.

Development and maintenance of technical training guidance and technical manuals. Design and delivery of technical learning and development skills within the area of specialism for the wider Loss Control team. 'Train the trainer' qualification is an advantage in this respect.

Carry out technical assessments and apply risk control measures for insured risks via desk top reviews, on-site and remote surveys for Construction risks. Able to attend site visits with brokers and clients to provide guidance on technical enhancements/improvements and thereby reduce the risk of losses. Work with underwriting, clients, and brokers to develop customised loss control engineering programs. Generate and review required reports and recommendations, presenting results to Underwriters, clients, and brokers.

Essential Skills

  • An experienced Construction Risk Engineer in a similar role within the insurance industry, or working in the Construction sector as an Health CIOB, IRM; or equivalent qualifications.

Desirable Skills

  • Responsible Artificial Intelligence usage.
  • NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health.
