Assistant Head of Credit Underwriting

Summary of Role: Contributes to the achievement of profitable and sustainable growth in the frame of Allianz Trade Group strategy through development and implementation of a proper BU underwriting strategy within a trade sector team.

Main Responsibilities:

• Implement Group RIC Strategy: Execute the approved Euler Hermes Group RIC strategy and associated action plans within the Business Unit.
• Portfolio Coordination & Underwriting: Coordinate sectoral risk portfolio evolution, underwrite and monitor risk decisions made within the team, and validate credit limit requests that exceed underwriting team authorities.
• Top Account Management: Engage personally in the acquisition and management of top accounts through regular meetings and contacts with customers and brokers.
• Loss Ratio Steering: Provide support to MMCD in steering customer loss ratios and proposing actions to ensure or restore the profitability of the portfolio.
• Cross-Functional Representation: Represent the Risk department in workshops and projects involving other core functions across the organisation.
• Project Leadership: Take responsibility for projects and initiatives supporting RBM and IRP-related matters.
• Team Development: Ensure a proper training process is in place for the team, fostering continuous professional development and capability building.

What we are looking for:

• Market Knowledge: Strong knowledge of dedicated business industries and the broader trade credit insurance landscape.
• Business Expertise: Strong business and finance assessment skills. In-depth knowledge and experience in Euler Hermes underwriting practices and methodologies. High level of commercial awareness and a strong commitment to customer service excellence.
• Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communicator with the ability to clearly articulate and defend decisions taken. Confident in conducting client visits and managing contacts, including navigating difficult meetings with high-profile senior stakeholders.
