As a portfolio manager in our London office, the key job responsibility is to lead the research and implementation of our UK retirement solutions. Additionally, the successful candidate would be expected to be a key contributor to the oversight of our successful US and Japan retirement business.
Our UK retirement solutions, which were launched over 15 years ago, have established themselves as market leaders both in terms of overall investment performance delivered but also in terms of innovation, leading the way in terms of:
- Member alignment
- Asset allocation thinking
- ESG integration
- Retirement income provision
- Reporting transparency
As portfolio manager of these solutions, reporting to David Hutchins, the successful candidate will assume responsibility with the team for delivery of investment performance that meets or exceeds the expectations of invested clients. To this extent they will be responsible for:
- Alignment of the objectives of the solutions with the needs of our clients, via the use and development of AB proprietary member and investment analysis tools
- Compliance of the investment of the solutions with client and product guidelines
- Integrating performance enhancing research, either by:
- Overseeing the efficient implementation of research into the solutions via the including mandating of appropriate underlying investment strategies that align with the research and ongoing manager selection and monitoring of the performance of those strategies
- Undertaking innovative product development research for either new solutions or evolution of existing solutions
- Providing and delivering key messaging to clients, internal and external, in terms of the solutions’ performance and research
As a senior leader within the Multi-Asset business, you will:
- Ensure that AB’s core values are promoted across the business
- Provide commercial leadership in the development of new business opportunities/lines
- People leadership
- Business and regulatory leadership
Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher
- Relevant professional qualification: CFA, Fellow Institute and Faculty of Actuaries etc.
- Around 10 years of experience in UK retirement markets, working directly with clients.
Experience of:
- Fundamental understanding of investment markets, with a strong knowledge of vehicles/instruments
- Experience of building investment solutions that combine capital markets outlooks with client understanding to produce multi-asset solutions that meet client needs.
- Proven analytical skills, with deep knowledge of statistics and experience of SQL, Matlab and/or Python preferred
- Relentless intellectual curiosity and a drive to excel at the highest level
- Experienced in client communication, both verbal and written
- A consummate team player who seeks a highly rigorous and collegial environment for their career development
