Role Description - S&P Global Enterprise Data Management (EDM) Technical Lead
Company Overview
Alliance Bernstein is a leading global investment management firm committed to delivering better outcomes for its clients. With a diverse network of perspectives, we design innovative solutions tailored to meet investors’ unique needs. Our collaborative culture empowers everyone to become their best selves and we act responsibly in both our actions and investments.
Department
The Operations Technology team sits at the heart of Alliance Bernstein’s overall workflow, providing the technology backbone for critical operations—from trade routing and portfolio accounting to reconciliation and reporting. The department also owns and manages Security Master – ensuring that accurate security data flows into trading and accounting systems and its Pricing Master (EPM) system, the central source of daily pricing information.
Alliance Bernstein uses S&P Global Enterprise Data Management (formerly IHS Markit EDM or CADIS), as its security master – the central platform for managing all security reference data. This system serves as the firm’s single, trusted source of information (a “golden copy”) for every financial instrument, consolidating data from multiple market vendors (e.g. Bloomberg, DirectBooks) and internal sources and aggregating data from approximately 30 business systems. S&P Global EDM automatically validates and enriches security attributes (e.g. identifiers, classifications, ratings) to ensure high data quality, with built-in checks that compare and update data against vendor feeds, flagging any discrepancies for review. The platform then distributes up-to-date security data to key front, middle, and back-office systems – including trading, portfolio management, and accounting applications – so that all teams operate with consistent, accurate information. This supports efficient trade processing, accurate portfolio valuation, compliance reporting, and smooth investment operations across the organisation.
