Job Description Summary
We are seeking a software developer to join our Operations Technology department in Global Technology & Operations.
Team/Group Description
The Operations Technology group supports critical systems that underpin AB's middle‑ and back‑office operations. The team partners closely with Operations, Data Management, Investment teams, Finance, and other enterprise functions to ensure smooth, accurate, and scalable processing across the firm.
Role Description
This role provides BAU (business‑as‑usual) support for a variety of AB's mission‑critical operational applications. The developer will work across portfolio accounting, data management, pricing, reference data, and testing platforms to ensure system reliability, data quality, and continuous improvement.
Key systems the role directly supports include:
- Private wealth portfolio accounting system (EPA)
- Institutional accounting platform (PMS)
- Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW)
- Price master and security reference master solution (EPM, CADIS)
- ATS3, AB's in‑house test automation and validation system.
Key job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Develop high‑quality, maintainable code aligned with established engineering standards
- Provide hands‑on L2/L3 support for production issues across supported platforms
- Troubleshoot application, data, and interface issues in collaboration with Operations and Technology teams
- Monitor system health, job failures, and data anomalies, escalating where needed
- Participate in on‑call rotation to support critical overnight processes
Qualifications, Experience & Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field
- 3–7+ years of software development experience (or strong equivalent hands‑on experience)
- Prior exposure to financial services, investment operations, or data‑driven environments preferred
Skills
Technical Skills- Strong programming expertise (C#, C++, or similar)
- Experience with SQL, relational databases, and data modeling
- Familiarity with ETL frameworks or data pipelines
- Experience with cloud platforms (Azure) a plus
- Working knowledge of CI/CD tools (Git)
- Understanding of data validation, data quality, and integration patterns
- Experience supporting production applications in a complex environment
- Analytical thinking and strong attention to detail
- Ability to collaborate with business stakeholders
- Strong documentation and communication skills
- Adaptability and willingness to take ownership
- Team‑oriented with a continuous improvement mindset
The following are beneficial, though not required:
- Familiarity with financial data domains (securities, prices, corporate actions, portfolios)
- CADIS / IHS Markit EDM experience
- Knowledge of cloud‑based migration and refactoring patterns
- Understanding of automated testing frameworks or in‑house systems like ATS3
