The Insurance Strategy Team (IST) resides within AB’s Global Insurance team which sits within the firm’s global Client Group. This IST partners with the firm’s Insurance Sales, Solutions, Operations, Marketing, Portfolio Management teams, as well as the firm’s RFP team and Asset-Class Business Development teams to service and support existing insurance clients and help develop new business in what is one of the firms’ key global growth initiatives.
More specifically the IST and its analysts will be responsible for the following:
- Client Service for existing insurance clients
- CRM Tool Regularly update and manage the client and prospect database in Salesforce
- Prospecting/Business Development in partnership with our Insurance Advisors & Insurance PM team
- Marketing and Product Management support in partnership with our Global Head of Insurance Marketing and Asset Class Business Development teams
- Solutions support including Strategic Asset Allocation, Peer Analysis and other Quant/Analytical work with our Senior Insurance Strategists
- M&A and Strategic Partnership support with our Head of Insurance Strategy and Partnerships
- Partnering with the firm’s RFP team to complete insurance RFPs and Due Diligences
- Product Development support such as driving the development of new insurance composites
- Business Management support including executive presentations, activity tracking, etc.
To be successful across all aspects of the role, the IST analysts should bring a passion for excellence, thrive in a continuous learning environment, enjoy collaborating across teams, and relentlessly identify and promote the needs of AB’s clients and senior stakeholders. The role is based in London where the firm’s Insurance and Insurance Portfolio Management teams reside.
Responsibilities for our IST Analysts will include but are not limited to:
- Client Service: Oversee all aspects of the day-to-day servicing of client accounts. This may include delivery of client reports and materials, fielding ad-hoc client queries, arranging portfolio reviews, preparing review presentations, and routing transactional requests.
- Prospecting/New Business Development: Assist with prospecting efforts which may entail arranging meetings, preparing thorough prep memos, conducting research on insurance company public filings to understand potential opportunities/areas of focus, creating presentation materials for meetings and Finals, determining contact information for new prospects, tracking and delivering follow-up items post meetings, facilitating RFPs/questionnaires, managing contact lists for marketing materials, as well as occasionally hosting meetings in partnership with our Insurance Advisor or on their own.
- Product Management: Partner with Asset Class BD Teams, Global Head of Insurance Marketing and the Insurance PM team to develop and maintain a suite of materials for each investment strategy that AB offers to insurance companies and a suite of thematic oriented or platform presentations including, for example, “Private Alts for Insurers”; partner on the maintenance and evolution of the firm’s AB Insurance introductory deck/upfront slides; work with the firm’s Portfolio Managers on presentations for industry conferences and AB events.
- Marketing: Work with the Global Head of Insurance Marketing on monthly or bi-monthly thought leadership newsletters, client events and symposiums, sponsorships, the insurance website and more.
- Request for Proposal Support: Collaborate with the RFP team on all Request for Proposals for new business with insurers including ensuring that the RFP team’s language describing AB’s insurance capabilities aligns with our positioning and that they have up-to-date descriptions of all new AB insurance strategies.
- Solutions/Analytical Support: support our Global Head of Insurance Client Group on SAA’s (i.e. Strategic Asset Allocations), Peer Analysis and other quant work with clients and prospective clients.
- M&A Support: work with the Head of Distribution Strategy and Partnerships by providing analytical support to Insurance M&A and Partnership opportunities.
- Product Development: Partner with the firm’s Asset Class Business Development and Product Development teams on driving new insurance-oriented composites to support the expansion of AB’s insurance product lineup.
- Executive Business Support: create and maintain business management dashboards to track activity, opportunities, campaigns, RFPs, pipeline and Wins; take responsibility for “Executive Presentations”.
- Other: partner with the firm’s Data Science team to determine how to enhance our Insurance prospecting efforts using Data Science tools and applications.
What We’re Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Finance, Economics, or Marketing, and an excellent academic record
- IMC preferable/willing to attain
- 2 -5 years of experience preferably in Financial Services or Insurance
- Track record of outstanding performance and achievement
- A belief that client is first and the ability to influence and lead others to prioritize in that way
- Ability to collaborate across all levels of the organization
- Exemplary relationship building skills
- Exceptional verbal, written communication, and presentation skills
- Proven track record in meeting deadlines with keen ability to multi-task and prioritize

- Passion for investments, markets and learning AB’s investment strategies
- Fluent in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel; experience with Salesforce.com a plus
