The Director of Church Planting provides catalytic leadership, strategic oversight, and development for the church planting and multiplication efforts of Alliance New England (ANE).

Working through ANE�s established Church Planting Pathway, the Director will identify and develop church planters, mobilize churches toward multiplication, cultivate strategic opportunities and partnerships, and provide leadership, support, and oversight from initial calling and assessment through the development of healthy, accredited Alliance churches.

The Director will champion ANE�s vision for multiplication throughout New England, building upon the strong foundation and systems already in place while bringing the relational leadership, creativity, initiative, and catalytic energy necessary to expand church planting across the region.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Champion and advance ANE�s established Church Planting Pathway, providing catalytic leadership that expands its reach, strengthens its effectiveness, and mobilizes leaders and churches toward multiplication in alignment with the mission and vision of Alliance New England and The Christian & Missionary Alliance (C&MA).
  • Actively identify and recruit potential church planting pastors, helping them discern their calling and guiding qualified candidates into and through ANE�s established Church Planting Pathway, including its assessment process.
  • Develop collective mission and multiplication opportunities throughout New England, fostering collaboration and partnerships among churches, clusters, church planters, and ministry partners.
  • Mobilize ANE churches and leaders toward a culture of multiplication, helping churches identify and engage opportunities to participate in church planting through prayer, people, partnership, and resources.
  • Provide ongoing support and development for church planting pastors and teams, including coaching, training, spiritual formation, leadership development, and practical ministry experience.
  • Establish developmental environments and experiences that identify, equip, and prepare emerging church planters for future ministry opportunities.
  • Guide church plants and developing churches through the phases of ANE�s Church Planting Pathway toward accreditation and healthy, sustainable ministry within The Christian & Missionary Alliance.
  • Cultivate relationships with Alliance churches, denominational leaders, cluster members, ministry partners, and other stakeholders to strengthen collaboration and support for church planting and multiplication.
  • Develop and pursue sustainable funding strategies and multiple funding streams to support church planting and multiplication efforts.
  • Develop and manage budgets related to church planting efforts, ensuring resources are strategically aligned with ANE�s church planting priorities.
  • Stay current with developing methodologies, emerging opportunities, and best practices in church planting, multiplication, evangelism, and outreach, bringing relevant learning and innovation into ANE�s established Church Planting Pathway.
  • Evaluate the health, progress, and viability of church planting efforts and, when necessary, lead appropriate decisions regarding their continuation, redirection, or conclusion.
  • ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Maintain consistent relational contact with church planting pastors and teams, providing pastoral care, encouragement, development, support, and appropriate accountability.
  • Maintain a visible and relational presence among ANE churches through Sunday speaking engagements, church visits, district gatherings, and other opportunities to inspire and mobilize churches toward multiplication.
  • Represent and advocate for church planting and multiplication within Alliance New England and in appropriate denominational, regional, and ministry settings.
  • Participate as a collaborative member of the Alliance New England team, contributing to the broader mission, vision, and ministry priorities of the district.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor�s degree in Bible, Theology, Pastoral Ministry, or another ministry-related field.
  • Significant pastoral leadership experience, with a minimum of five years of demonstrated experience in church planting, church revitalization, multiplication ministry, or a closely related ministry context.
  • Licensed as an Official Worker of The Christian & Missionary Alliance preferred; otherwise, must be able and willing to meet C&MA licensing and ordination/consecration requirements.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships with pastors, churches, denominational leaders, ministry partners, and a variety of stakeholders.
  • A catalytic and entrepreneurial leadership approach, with a demonstrated ability to identify opportunities, mobilize people and churches, build partnerships, and turn vision into action.
  • A collaborative leadership style with the ability to champion an established pathway while contributing insight, creativity, and continuous improvement as church planting needs and opportunities develop.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and develop leaders, coach ministry practitioners, and foster environments in which emerging leaders can discern, develop, and deploy their calling.
  • Strong organizational and strategic leadership skills, with the ability to move multiple initiatives forward while maintaining a highly relational approach to ministry.
  • A passion for the advancement of God�s Kingdom through evangelism, multiplication, and the planting of healthy, reproducing churches.
  • LOCATION

Must live within a two-hour drive of South Easton, Massachusetts, or be willing to relocate within that radius.
