Alliance Psychological Services is an independent provider of counselling and psychological therapy services based in the Tees Valley area and working across the North‑East region. We are partnering with Teesside Mind to deliver the IMPACT on Teesside service. Applicants must hold the relevant PWP course qualification. Applications without this will be declined.

We are currently recruiting qualified PWPs to work within our innovative Impact on Teesside NHS Talking Therapies service, delivering a range of low‑intensity interventions via face‑to‑face, telephone, and digital modalities for adults aged 16+.

Job Responsibilities
  • Provide evidence‑based low‑intensity psychological interventions within the framework of the national NHS Talking Therapies programme.
  • Participate in the Impact duty team, offering assessment and support to patients referred to the service.
  • Collaborate with the Impact on Teesside Talking Therapies team, maintaining effective working relationships within the wider Impact team and beyond.
  • Offer advice and support to the Primary Care Team, including GPs and other health professionals, on mental health issues and referral pathways.
  • Liaise effectively with secondary care and voluntary sector organisations and services.
  • Attend meetings and provide reports as required.
  • Assist in the development and promotion of the service.
  • Provide assessment, including risk assessment, of clients and determine appropriate treatment and support pathways.
  • Select and deliver low‑intensity CBT interventions in collaboration with clients via telephone, face‑to‑face, and group work.
  • Maintain client confidentiality within agreed guidelines.
  • Produce appropriate records, assessment tools, and reports.
  • Engage in continuing professional development, including relevant supervision and appraisal.
  • Operate within NHS, Impact, and professional guidelines and codes of practice.
  • Promote the rights, responsibilities, and diversity of people using the service.
  • Ensure a safe working environment for self and others, adhering to health and safety guidelines.
Safeguarding
  • Promote the welfare of service users and safeguard children and vulnerable adults.
  • Take appropriate safeguarding action and seek support when necessary.
  • Signpost and/or refer families to Early Help services when required.
  • Share appropriate information with other agencies within confidentiality and information sharing protocols.
Person SpecificationQualifications
  • Level 6 or 7 qualification from a BPS Accredited PWP Training Course.
  • Active PWP registration with BPS or BABCP, or eligibility to work towards.
  • Evidence of training in mental health and related issues.
  • Good record of continuing professional development.
  • Understanding of approaches for long‑term conditions for PWPs.
  • Completion of PWP supervision training.
Experience
  • Experience working in a mental health care setting.
  • Ongoing clinical supervision of therapeutic work.
  • Understanding of the PWP role within NHS Talking Therapies and low‑intensity CBT interventions.
  • Ability to meet agreed or specified service targets.
  • Ability to manage caseload and time effectively.
  • High standards of written communication.
  • Ability to write clear reports and letters to referrers.
  • Knowledge of mild to moderate mental health problems, including anxiety and depression, and their presentation in primary care.
  • Understanding of the impact of work on mental health, benefits, and employment systems.
  • Experience working in Primary Care Services with demonstrated clinical outcomes.
  • Experience with group work.

This role is subject to an enhanced DBS check and an enhanced criminal records disclosure will be sought in the event of a successful application.
