Main duties of the job:

These two posts are employed by Alliance Psychological Services however the successful candidate will work as part of the wider Tees Valley Getting Help partnership contributing to a truly collaborative & integrated model of care. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a forward-thinking, system-wide approach helping to transform how mental health support is delivered to children & young people across the Tees Valley.

The post holder will be part of a wider team that collaboratively provides high-quality brief and evidence-based support that is sensitive to the unique needs and experiences of children & young people. The CWP will provide support to children & young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties. These will include Low intensity CBT, Parent Led CBT Anxiety, The Decider Skills and Parent support for behaviour Manchester Model/Investing in Play. The CWP's duties involve a variety of tasks including assessment, intervention and collaboration with other agencies.

Job responsibilities:

  • Deliver a range of outcome focused, low intensity CBT evidence-based interventions in educational and community settings to children, young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties.
  • Undertake and complete psychosocial assessments including accurate safety assessment and safety planning.
  • Support children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties and their families, educators and professionals in the self-management of presenting difficulties.
  • Deliver 1:1 and group-based therapeutic interventions with children, young people and their families, using evidence-based approaches that promote engagement, participation and positive outcomes.
  • Work in partnership with children, young people, their families, and educators/professionals in the development of treatment plans.
  • Work in a trauma-informed way, recognising the impact of adverse experiences on presentation, engagement and outcomes, and adapting interventions to promote emotional and psychological safety.
  • Demonstrate an inclusive values base, which recognises and respects diversity.
  • Identify/accept appropriate referrals for children and young people in educational/community settings, according to agreed treatment pathways, processes, and procedures.
  • Engage in robust managerial and clinical supervision, identifying the scope of practice of the individual postholder within the role, and working safely within that scope.
  • Keep coherent records of all clinical activity in line with Alliances service protocols and use these records and outcome data to inform decision making.
  • Contribute to the development of individual or group clinical materials or training materials.

To create and maintain effective working relationships with Headteachers, Deputy Heads, SENCOs, Pastoral Team, and wider teaching staff by providing advice and consultative support on emotional and mental health issues, and in relation to appropriate referral pathways for children, young people and families with mental health needs.

Responsible for safeguarding children and always promoting the welfare of children & young people and operating within local policies and procedures.
