Job Description

We are currently recruiting for a Machine Shop/Production Manager for a permanent, on-site role based in a Manufacturing company in Birmingham.\\n\\nWe are seeking candidates with experience working with bespoke/artisan level products within the engineering/industrial manufacturing sector. We also welcome interest from candidates who have worked in precision engineering in a leadership role such as Workshop/Machine Shop/Production manager.\\n\\nWorking hours: 40 hours per week. (Apply online only) Monday to Thursday, (Apply online only) on Fridays.\\n\\nKey Responsibilities:\\n\\n * Interpret and transform technical drawings into finished products.\\n\\n * Visualise and assess designs, taking a step back to consider the bigger picture and ensure production feasibility.\\n\\n * Utilise a hands-on approach to machining, welding, and assembly to achieve precise outcomes.\\n\\nLeadership & Team Development:\\n\\n * Supervise and inspire a small team of multi skilled craftsmen/people, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.\\n\\n * Lead recruitment efforts, ensuring the team is well-rounded and aligned with company goals & values.\\n\\nShop Floor Expertise:\\n\\n * Bring hands-on knowledge of machining and welding processes, including troubleshooting and problem-solving.\\n\\n * Oversee machine shop operations, maintaining high standards of precision, quality, and safety.\\n\\n * Integrate efficiency standards to monitor machine availability, Overall Equipment Effectiveness etc\\n\\n * Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations, ISO standards, and company processes.\\n\\nEngineering & Process Management:\\n\\n * Leverage a strong mechanical engineering background to drive innovation and efficiency.\\n\\n * Apply a natural curiosity to overcome manufacturing challenges.\\n\\n * Evaluate production processes, continuously improving workflows and output quality.\\n\\nStrategic oversight:\\n\\n * Coordinate the supply chain and materials for in-house manufacturing and assembly.\\n\\n * Anticipate and solve potential production issues, ensuring seamless delivery of projects.\\n\\n * Production/capacity planning – have the ability to strategically plan workloads of multiple projects simultaneously against targeted customer completion dates, co-ordinating outsourced activities in-line with in-house manufacturing and assembly\\n\\n * Serve as a brand ambassador, embodying the company’s values and ethos.\\n\\nCandidate Specification:\\n\\n * Proven history of managing a machine shop or similar manufacturing environment.\\n\\n * Strong mechanical engineering background.\\n\\n * Ability to read, interpret, and visualise complex technical drawings.\\n\\n * Strong record of building, developing, and retaining teams, including recruitment and training.\\n\\n * Natural curiosity and a hands-on approach to solving challenges.\\n\\n * An eye for detail and the ability to step back and see the bigger picture.\\n\\n * A passion for creating high-quality, innovative products.\\n\\n * Effective communicator and collaborator, with the ability to motivate a team.\\n\\nSalary and Benefits:\\n\\n * £50,000 – £60,000 per annum starting salary.\\n\\n * EAP Scheme.\\n\\n * Life Assurance (x3 of Salary)\\n\\n * 25 Days Holiday + Bank Holidays.
