Alliance Personnel are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Food Technical Manager to join one of their clients in Birmingham. JOB PURPOSE To be responsible for all technical, specifications and compliance across the site to ensure all products manufactured meet strict safety, quality, legality and customer specifications while driving continuous improvement, managing site technical audits, and maintaining industry certification standards (such as BRCGS). RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES * Maintain, update, and continuously improve the site's Quality Management System (QMS), HACCP, and TACCP plans. * Lead site preparation for and hosting of unannounced and announced third-party audits (e.g., BRCGS, and major customer audits). * Drive root cause analysis and corrective action implementation for internal non-conformances, customer complaints, and audit findings. * Oversee micro-testing schedules, environmental monitoring programs, and raw material/finished product sampling protocols. * Manage customer technical portal submissions, specification approvals, and technical KPI reporting. * Foster a robust Food Safety Culture across all site departments through regular training, clear communication, and operational engagement. SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES * Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Microbiology, or a related discipline (preferred). * Level 4 HACCP qualification (preferred). * Level 4 Food Safety in Manufacturing (preferred). * Certified Internal/Lead Auditor qualification. * 3–5+ years in a Technical Manager or Deputy Technical Manager role within a high-care, high-risk or ambient food manufacturing environment. * Proven track record of managing and achieving top-grade results in BRCGS audits. * Strong working knowledge of UK/EU food legislation, labelling requirements, allergen management, and raw material traceability. SALARY & HOURS * Up to £50,000 per annum * Flexible 40 hour week. * Temp to Perm contract 12 weeks on agency
