An established engineering and remanufacturing business is seeking an experienced Workshop Supervisor to join their growing operation in Coventry. This is a hands-on leadership role suited to a senior engineer or technician with strong diesel engine and power generation experience who enjoys leading from the front while remaining technically involved in day-to-day workshop activities.
The Role
- Supporting the day-to-day running of the workshop
- Supervising a team of technicians
- Ensuring production, quality, and operational targets are consistently achieved
- Carrying out hands-on overhaul, repair, and remanufacturing work
- Maintaining high standards of quality and workshop organisation
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives
- Completing job cards, inspection reports, and production documentation
- Assisting with mechanical and electrical fault finding and diagnostics
- Maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient working environment
About You
We are looking for an experienced engineer with a strong background in diesel engines, generators, or heavy mechanical equipment. You will ideally have experience with:
- Diesel engine repair, overhaul, and reconditioning
- Power generation equipment and diesel generators
- Workshop supervision or lead technician responsibilities
- Mechanical and electrical fault diagnostics
- Working within quality-driven engineering environments
Experience working on equipment or engines from manufacturers such as Cummins, CAT, MAN, Iveco, or Rolls Royce would be highly advantageous. You will also possess:
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- A proactive and solutions-focused mindset
- High attention to detail
- The ability to motivate and support a technical team
Qualifications
NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds Level 3 in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
Desirable
Experience working on military vehicles or specialist heavy equipment
