We're partnering with a well-established engineering and manufacturing organisation that supports critical, specialist equipment used in demanding environments. Due to continued growth, they're looking to add an experienced Workshop Plant Technician to their workshop team.
The role
You’ll be responsible for the diagnosis, servicing, strip-down, rebuild and testing of heavy plant and specialist equipment, ensuring all work is completed to the highest quality and safety standards. This is a hands-on workshop role, suited to someone who enjoys technical problem-solving, structured processes, and working with complex mechanical systems.
Key responsibilities
- Diagnose, service and repair heavy plant and specialist equipment
- Strip units and assess individual components for fitness for purpose
- Evaluate parts availability and commercial viability before work begins
- Complete job cards and identify additional parts or BOM requirements
- Rebuild equipment in line with manufacturer specifications and work instructions
- Test completed units to OEM standards
- Report faults and issues to the Workshop Supervisor
- Maintain high standards of quality, efficiency and safety at all times
- Accurately complete all job cards, production tracking and QHSE documentation
- Adhere to schedules, procedures and health & safety requirements
What we’re looking for
- Proven experience repairing and maintaining military vehicles, heavy plant or similar specialist equipment
- Engine and transmission strip-down and rebuild experience (highly desirable)
- Strong attention to detail and methodical approach to work
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable using MS Office (particularly Excel) or willing to learn
- Able to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks
- Solid understanding of QHSE legislation
- Full, valid driving licence
- A positive, professional attitude and willingness to learn
