Role Summary
This role is responsible for functionally leading a team that works on multiple algorithmic engines supporting benchmark algorithms, smart order routing and internal crossing for the EMEA and global electronic business. The team focuses on strategy engine enhancement, framework development and regulatory compliance within a Java-based low‑latency platform.
Main Responsibilities
- Delivery of key functional changes to the ETT strategy engines
- Delivery of core framework‑level changes
- Interaction with the quantitative trading group to capture core requirements
- Involved with all aspects of the development lifecycle: requirements gathering, coding, unit testing, patch review, and second‑level support
Required Skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience developing modern Java systems with an automation‑first mindset and shift‑left testing
- In-depth understanding of core Java APIs (collections, concurrency, NIO)
- Experience with multithreaded, low‑latency I/O and JVM tuning
- Front‑office system design knowledge (alg trading plant, topology)
- Business knowledge of equities and/or derivatives markets
- Understanding of benchmark algo and smart routing strategies (VWAP, TWAP, arrival price)
- Design pattern experience (Observer, Factory, Singleton)
- Test‑driven development, UML, OO design; familiarity with Eclipse/IntelliJ, Git, Maven/Gradle
- Capacity to mentor junior developers and work cross‑functionally (development, testing, analysis)
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of Futures, FX and/or fixed‑income markets
- Agile methodology experience
- FIX protocol familiarity (login, sequence numbers, message types)
