We’ve got an exciting new opportunity to join our Young Carers team, supporting Young Adult Carers aged 17–25 in our local communities. This is a brand-new project funded by the National Lottery, and you’ll be working directly with young adult carers, offering personalised one to one support. You’ll help them think about their goals and aspirations for the future, while understanding how their caring role fits into that and options available to them.
A big part of the role will be linking in with schools, sixth forms and colleges to promote the service and help encourage referrals and identify young adult carers who may not have accessed support before. You’ll support in delivering a Young Adult Carers Steering Group, giving young carers the chance to have their say, shape the service, and get involved in things like presentations and events. This is a fun, creative and rewarding role. You’ll be delivering group activities and trips as well as providing one-to-one support — all while making a real difference to young carers’ lives.
About You
You will have experience and confidence in planning and leading group sessions and be able to network with a range of stakeholders. Understanding the specific needs of working with young people, you would have delivered 1:1 support, ideally employment, as well. As you will be working independently, and within your team, you will be able to manage your own time and have effective resource management and organisational skills. Flexibility around working hours will be needed as regular evening work will be required. The successful candidate will also be subject to a satisfactory Enhanced DBS check. Due to the nature of the role, a full driving licence with your access to your own car is required or alternative transport.
We review applications when received, so we may close the vacancy early if we find that perfect candidate. If the role takes your interest, then apply now.
