Job Details
- Location: Preston / Stockport / Manchester
- Hours per week: Minimum 48 hours – 6 day working week (Mon‑Fri + Sat morning)
- Salary: £35,642.88
Job Purpose
To ensure the speedy, efficient and accurate delivery of assembled product and invoices to customers within corporate guidelines.
Key Accountabilities
- Maintain a safe and competent standard of driving, observing speed limits and traffic signs.
- Daily vehicle check for roadworthy condition, including lights, brakes and coolant.
- Report any faults, breakdowns, accidents or delays.
- Maintain the internal and external condition of the vehicle and its cleanliness.
- Ensure sufficient fuel for the day's work.
- Maintain the security of the vehicle and its contents at all times.
- Check all orders on dropsheets and ensure they are loaded.
- Collect goods for credit, mail, delivery bins and return them to the branch as instructed.
- Deal promptly and correctly with damages/breakages, especially HazChem procedures.
- Maintain a smart appearance at all times.
- Help maintain good customer relations.
- Perform other duties including warehouse tasks as directed by Management.
- Meet all Health & Safety requirements.

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Hold a full driving licence relevant to the vehicle, and be over 21 years of age.
- Accept that a clean licence is not required but points may affect shortlisting.
- Existing employees must update licence status changes.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent customer care skills.
- Intermediate numeracy and literacy.
Desirable
- Previous experience of multi‑drop delivery driving.
- Route planning experience.
Manual Handling
Manual handling tasks such as lifting and bending are essential requirements of this role.
Key Dimensions
No managerial responsibility and no direct influence on budget.

- Constant interaction with external customers.
- Regular liaison with other drivers and the transport team.
Level Of Decision Making
Act on own initiative and work unsupervised. Monitor condition of own vehicle, report damages or faults. Make decisions on vehicle roadworthiness in case of serious faults or damages.
