We have an exciting opportunity at our Coatbridge Service Centre for a Fleet and Transport Manager. Reporting to the Transport Regional General Manager, you will be part of the senior management team within the site. You will be responsible for Driver Team Managers and a team of 200+ drivers, plus agency staff at peak, providing leadership and direction to ensure maintenance of productivity and service KPIs of the transport department. Job Purpose: The Fleet and Transport Manager is responsible for the efficient operation of transport in the Coatbridge Service Centre. Their primary focus is to ensure a safe, legal transport function that delivers exceptional customer service. This includes driving process standardization, service performance improvements, cost-efficiency, route optimization, legal compliance, and collaboration with warehouse operations and colleagues.
Principle Accountabilities:
- Ensure safety standards are developed, implemented, and maintained within the framework of company-wide Target Zero H&S policies.
- Achieve and maintain all operating standards through compliance with policies, procedures, and legislation.
- Support individual growth through succession planning and PDP management, ensuring proper staffing and structure.
- Manage transport and labor costs within budget with robust control mechanisms.
- Oversee a temperature-controlled fleet of vans and LGVs, ensuring compliance throughout the delivery cycle.
- Collaborate with internal and external customers to maintain and achieve service levels, including sustainability initiatives.
- Establish and maintain effective communication channels across the network and departments.
- Identify and implement systemic and operational improvements to enhance service quality.
