Hours of work: 48 hours Per Week (Monday – Saturday)
Job Purpose
To ensure the speedy, efficient and accurate delivery of assembled product and invoices to the customer within the corporate guidelines.
Key Accountabilities
- Maintain a safe and competent standard of driving, observing speed limits and other traffic signs and giving due regard to other road users.
- Conduct a daily check to ensure that the vehicle is roadworthy (lights, brakes, coolant, etc.).
- Report any faults, breakdowns, accidents or delays.
- Maintain the internal and external condition of the vehicle together with its cleanliness.
- Ensure sufficient quantities of fuel are available for the day's work.
- Maintain the security of the vehicle and its contents at all times.
- Check all orders shown on the dropsheets and ensure all orders are loaded on the vehicle.
- Collect goods returned for credit, mail, cheques or delivery bins and return them safe to the branch at all times.
- Maintain housekeeping standards.
- Deal with damages/breakages promptly and correctly, following special procedures for HazChems.
- Maintain a smart appearance at all times.
- Help maintain good customer relations.
- Carry out other duties as defined from time to time by the Management.
- Meet all Health & Safety requirements.
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required
- Hold a full driving licence relevant to the vehicle being driven.
- Be over 21 years of age for insurance purposes.
- Existing employees must update fleet services regarding any changes to licence status (e.g., points, bans).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent customer care.
- Intermediate numeracy and literacy.
Desirable
- Previous experience of multi‑drop delivery driving.
- Route planning experience.
Manual Handling
Manual handling tasks such as lifting and bending are essential requirements of this role.
