- Salary: £13.33 per hour
Job Purpose: The Warehouse Operative is responsible for carrying out any role required of them within the warehouse environment. This can range from picking and packing of orders within the automated system, the medical bulk area, the fridge area and secure areas, whilst if required, carrying out roles within the transport environment. They are responsible for the overall processing of the customer orders efficiently and at the agreed company rate.
All staff are expected to understand the principles of Good Distribution Practice of Medicinal Products for Human Use (2013/C 68/01) which is reflected in our SOP – REF Chapter 1 AHDL GDP 1.1. It will be a requirement for all staff to be trained in this SOP and have an annual refresher. All other GDP training will be job specific and as per your personal training matrix.
Key Accountabilities
- Operating Standards
- Where required must accurately assemble items from the pick documentation and ensure that the quantity picked is accurate.
- Special care must be taken to avoid damage and the appropriate bin/packaging used - all damages must be reported to the line team leader.
- Any pick face errors must be reported to the line team leaders immediately.
- Any visible errors within the warehouse environment must be reported to line team leaders immediately.
- If there is a problem with a particular line/area the line team leader must be informed.
- Hospital orders are assembled in the same way but must be given to the hospital checker to ensure accuracy.
- Special check orders are assembled in the same way but must be given to the special checker to ensure accuracy.
- Medical Bulk orders, Fridge orders & Secure area orders must be picked in the same way however each have specific criteria that will be covered through training.
- Any errors must be responded to immediately.
- All unusual quantities in picking process must be brought to the attention of the line team leader.
- Any suspected/actual issues relating to an order itself must be reported to the line team leader.
- Any issues relating to transport activities must be reported to the line team leader.
- Awareness of Health & Safety procedures at all times.
- The warehouse area must be kept clean and tidy and free from rubbish at all times.

MANUAL HANDLING
It should be noted that manual handling tasks such as lifting and bending are “essential requirements” of this role. High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience required. 2+ years of experience in warehouse support, distribution operations, shipping, receiving, inventory control, material handling, or a related field required. Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP), or equivalent certification preferred. Knowledge in fleet operations administration and transportation support processes. Knowledge in warehouse operations including receiving, storage, order preparation, shipment processing, and inventory movement. Knowledge in logistics documentation, transaction controls, and operational record maintenance. Knowledge in warehouse and transportation systems used for status updates, tracking, and transaction processing. Knowledge in loss prevention, material handling, and operational control requirements. Ability to process routine and moderately complex operational activities within established procedures. Ability to identify causes of routine operational issues, analyze basic data, and support issue resolution. Ability to maintain accurate operational records and transaction visibility across logistics workflows. Ability to communicate with internal and external contacts to obtain or provide operational information of moderate importance. Ability to support continuous improvement changes in systems and processes within defined guidelines.
