Warehouse Operative – Outbound
Department: Warehouse | Location: Service Centre | Reports To: Outbound Manager | Shift: Mon‑Fri 17:00‑00:30 & Sun 07:00‑12:00 | Salary: £13.33 per hour
Job Purpose
The Warehouse Operative is responsible for carrying out any required role within the warehouse environment, including picking and packing of orders in the automated system, medical bulk area, fridge area and secure areas.
When required, the operative also performs roles within the transport environment.
The operative is accountable for the overall processing of customer orders efficiently and at the agreed company rate, adhering to the principles of Good Distribution Practice for Medicinal Products for Human Use (2013/C 68/01) as outlined in SOP – REF Chapter 1 AHDL GDP 1.1.
- Key Accountabilities
- Accurately assemble items from pick documentation and verify order quantity.
- Use appropriate bin and packaging; report any damage to the line team leader.
- Report pick face errors or any visible environmental errors to the line team leader immediately.
- Inform the line team leader of problems with a particular line or area.
- For hospital, special check, medical bulk, fridge and secure area orders, assemble and submit to the appropriate checker for accuracy confirmation.
- Respond to all errors promptly and bring any unusual quantities to the line team leader.
- Report suspected or actual order issues, and any transport activity issues, to the line team leader.
- Maintain awareness of health and safety procedures at all times.
- Keep the warehouse area clean, tidy and free from rubbish.

- Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required
- Essential: High visual accuracy, good verbal communication skills, basic written communication skills, basic numeracy and literacy, and customer care.
- Desirable: Previous experience in a warehouse environment.
- Manual handling tasks such as lifting and bending are essential; reasonable adjustments are not possible for those unable to perform these duties.
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent; 2+ years of experience in warehouse support, distribution operations, shipping, receiving, inventory control, or related field.
- Preferred certification: Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) or equivalent.
- Knowledge of fleet operations, logistics documentation, warehouse operations (receiving, storage, order preparation, shipment processing), inventory movement, loss prevention, material handling, operational record maintenance, and continuous improvement processes.
