Location: Service Centre. Reports To: Transport Manager.
Job Purpose
To ensure the speedy, efficient and accurate delivery of assembled product and invoices to the customer within the corporate guidelines.
Key Accountabilities
- Maintain a safe and competent standard of driving, observing speed limits and other traffic signs and giving due regard to other road users.
- Perform daily vehicle checks to ensure roadworthiness (lights, brakes, coolant, etc.).
- Report any faults, breakdowns, accidents or delays.
- Maintain the internal and external condition of the vehicle, including cleanliness.
- Ensure sufficient fuel for the day's work.
- Maintain vehicle and contents security at all times.
- Check orders on drop sheets and ensure all are loaded.
- Collect goods returned for credit, mail, cheques or delivery bins and return them to the branch as instructed.
- Deal promptly and correctly with damages/breakages, following special procedures for HazChems.
- Maintain a smart appearance at all times.
- Help maintain good customer relations.
- Perform other duties defined by Management from time to time.
- Meet all Health & Safety requirements.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required
- Hold a full driving licence relevant to the vehicle being driven.
- Drivers must be over 21 years old for insurance purposes.
- Maintain an up‑to‑date fleet services record with any changes to licence status (e.g., points, driving bans).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent customer care.
- Intermediate numeracy and literacy.
- Previous experience of multi‑drop delivery driving highly desirable.
- Route planning experience desirable.
- Manual handling tasks such as lifting and bending are essential requirements of this role. The company is not able to make reasonable adjustments for applicants unable to carry out such duties.
Key Dimensions
No managerial responsibility and no direct influence on budget.
Key Working Relationships
Constant interaction with external customers. Regular liaison with other drivers and members of the transport team.
Level of Decision Making
Act on own initiative and work unsupervised. Monitor own vehicle condition and report or correct damages or faults. Make decision on non-roadworthy vehicle if serious faults or damages occur.

Drivers are required to maintain a smart appearance due to their constant interaction with external customers.
