The counseling intern will receive full spectrum exposure to working with adults in crisis. The intern will be located at the AllHealth Network Acute Treatment Unit (ATU) or CSU (Crisis Stabilization Unit) in Littleton.

The counseling intern will gain experience working with clients requiring a higher level of care due to the severity of their symptoms. The intern should be interested in short-term crisis counseling/brief interventions and be motivated to provide therapeutic care for clients experiencing psychosis, grief, trauma symptoms, personality disorders, mania, depression, co-occurring substance use, IDD or TBI symptoms. This is a high-acuity, fast-paced environment and interns will be expected to follow all agency policies and procedures while maintaining flexibility and adaptability to continually changing clinical circumstances.

Under the supervision of a Licensed Professional Counselor, the intern will function as a member of the ACC treatment team by providing individual therapy, group therapy, discharge/family reintegration sessions, risk assessment, and safety planning/risk mitigation. The intern will also complete comprehensive assessments, clinical screeners, care planning, participate in daily treatment team meetings, coordinate with a multidisciplinary team, and document in the HER. As with all internships, the intern will receive supervision from an LPC on a weekly basis.

Interns must be affiliated with a CACREP accredited academic program during their placement with AllHealth Network. The school or its representative and AllHealth Network must have an established Affiliation Agreement, in writing, in place regarding the terms of an intern’s placement prior to the start of an internship. AllHealth Network employees are not eligible for internships while employed by the organization. All internships are unpaid. AllHealth Network does not employ or provide internships to current or former clients or those who have family members in treatment to avoid confidentiality concerns or conflicts of interest.

Interns may not practice in any language other than English unless they have passed the Human Resources approved proficiency examination. Those offered internship positions are required to complete the background check process and other onboarding requirements, as outlined by Human Resources. Interns are expected to attend New Employee Orientation (NEO) as well as other required new hire and internship trainings and to complete all mandatory agency wide staff training requirements. Interns are also expected to give constructive feedback that evaluates their training and supervision experience and to be engaged in the learning process. Interns are expected to participate in the development of a performance improvement plan if one is needed. Interns are expected to keep track of their hours as they accrue, per the requirements of their academic program.

AllHealth interns are encouraged to participate in all intern group meetings, trainings (both online and live), and presentations. Video and audio taping of sessions is not permitted. Interns in academic programs that require video and/or audio recording should apply elsewhere.
