We are seeking bright, creative and inspiring graduates to join us as paid part-time Scholars in Residence, two afternoons a week, helping to develop passion and scholarship within our students.

Contract start and end dates can be flexible, but we would ideally like to find graduates who can commit to at least one term, e.g. September/October to Christmas, or two terms, e.g. September/October to Easter.

These posts are likely to appeal to post-graduate students currently working on a Master’s degree or a Doctorate, or to post-doctoral students as they offer an opportunity to gain paid work experience in an educational environment, sharing the knowledge and skills developed during university studies. They are not exclusively designed for aspiring teachers but would clearly be beneficial to those considering a career in teaching.

As well as the usual school subjects, we teach Computer Science, Classics, Philosophy, Psychology, Politics, Economics, Film Studies, History of Art, and PE at A Level.

Exact days and hours may be flexible to some extent in order to fit with studying commitments. Lunch is provided for free, and the salary is based on a rate of £25.00 per hour (7.5 hours per week).

All staff enjoy access to superb facilities and resources, as well as a variety of great benefits which are detailed in our Working at Alleyn’s brochure.

The closing date for applications is midnight on Sunday 8 June, and interviews will be held at Alleyn’s in the week beginning Monday 16 June. If you have any questions or would like to discuss an application, you are very welcome to contact the HR Department (jobs@alleyns.org.uk, 020 8299 8009).

Please note that suitable candidates may be interviewed before the closing date, and we reserve the right to withdraw the position if an early appointment is made.

The School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be subject to an enhanced DBS check. Alleyn’s is an Equal Opportunities employer.

Alleyn’s welcomes applications from all applicants who meet the requirements for the position, however we are especially keen to receive applications from those in minority groups for which the School is currently underrepresented. We celebrate diversity and thrive on the benefits it brings.
