Allexo are proud to be partnering with a leading FMCG business behind some of the UK’s most recognised and loved consumer brands. We’re looking for a commercially driven Category Manager to take ownership of a major grocery retail account, playing a pivotal role in shaping category growth strategy, influencing senior retail stakeholders, and delivering insight-led recommendations that create genuine commercial impact. This is an outstanding opportunity for an ambitious category professional who thrives in a fast-paced, data-led environment and wants to work with a business that combines household-name brands, strong investment, and an award-winning culture.

The Opportunity

This is far more than a traditional reporting role. You’ll act as the lead category advisor for a key national grocery retailer, using data, insight, and strategic thinking to influence ranging, merchandising, promotional effectiveness, and shopper activation plans. Working cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, and Insights teams, you’ll help shape both short- and long-term category growth strategies while building trusted partnerships externally with a key grocery customer. You’ll have real visibility across the business and the chance to influence senior stakeholders internally and externally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the category relationship with a major UK grocery retailer
  • Deliver compelling, insight-led category recommendations that drive growth
  • Influence retailer decisions through best-in-class market and shopper analysis
  • Identify commercial opportunities across range, merchandising, promotions, and in-store execution
  • Develop impactful category reporting, scorecards, and strategic presentations
  • Support customer-facing meetings with actionable market insight and recommendations
  • Partner closely with Sales and Marketing teams to shape customer strategy
  • Use market data and analytics tools to uncover risks, trends, and growth opportunities
  • Champion the voice of the customer internally across commercial projects and business planning

About You

We’re looking for someone who combines strong analytical capability with commercial influence and relationship-building skills. You’ll ideally have:

  • Previous experience within Category Management in FMCG or retail
  • Strong experience using Nielsen and/or Kantar data
  • Excellent commercial acumen and strategic thinking
  • Advanced Excel and data interpretation skills
  • The ability to translate complex data into compelling recommendations
  • Experience influencing both internal and external stakeholders
  • A proactive, resilient, and results-driven mindset
  • Strong presentation and communication skills

Why Apply?

  • Opportunity to work with iconic consumer brands
  • High-profile retailer exposure and ownership
  • Strategic, commercially influential role
  • Collaborative and people-focused culture
  • Excellent career development opportunities within a global business
  • Hybrid working and competitive package

If you’re looking for a role where you can genuinely influence category strategy, build senior retailer relationships, and accelerate your FMCG career, we’d love to hear from you.
