Allerton Bishop is exclusively retained to appoint a Site Director on behalf of a global pharmaceutical manufacturer specialising in complex pharmaceutical and biologic products. This is a high-profile leadership appointment for a strategically important UK manufacturing site undergoing significant investment, expansion, and operational transformation.

Reporting into COO, the Site Director will lead all site operations across Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Engineering, MSAT, Operational Excellence, EHS, and Quality. The successful candidate will drive operational performance, GMP excellence, and the delivery of a major site investment programme supporting future manufacturing capability and growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead all site operations, ensuring GMP compliant manufacturing performance.
  • Drive operational excellence across the site.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing multi-functional leadership team.
  • Oversee a major site investment and expansion programme, ensuring delivery to budget and timeline.
  • Partner with the COO on long-term site strategy, operational scalability, and transformation initiatives.
  • Maintain the GMP, regulatory compliance, EHS, and quality culture.
  • Act as senior site lead during regulatory inspections from FDA, MHRA and EMA.
  • Manage site budgets, forecasting, and operational performance metrics.
Candidate Profile
  • Extensive senior leadership experience within pharmaceutical, biologics, vaccine, sterile manufacturing, or advanced therapy GMP environments.
  • Proven track record leading complex manufacturing operations within international regulated organisations.
  • Experience leading site transformation, scale-up, operational improvement, or major capital investment programmes.
  • Strong background in GMP manufacturing, quality systems, supply chain, and operational excellence.
  • Demonstrated success leading large cross-functional teams within matrixed global businesses.
  • Strong commercial, strategic, and stakeholder management capability.
  • Previous international or multi-site leadership experience is highly desirable.
